Problem loading the Ren sound library to an external drive

I can't seem to load the Akai sound library onto my external drive. I need 3 gigs of space and want to install the sound library to the external drive. I have MacbookPro OS 10.6.8 with an external drive glyph gpt50. When I run the MPC software I am able load sounds and programs I already have stored on the drive. Just cant figure out why the Akai installation does not show the glyph drive when it ask where I want to store the library. It only shows my laptop as an option where to store the library. Anyone have this issue yet or does anyone know how to correct this problem?

here's a stupid question... is the drive mounted when you try to install the sounds? Also, if you can load the sounds already on the drive, why not install the sounds locally and the move the folder to the glyph?

Yes the drive is mounted. I see the contents of the install DVD when I insert it into the laptop. I can only view the intall file. You must click on the install file in order to install the driver, software and sound library. When you do that it goes thru a standard software installation process. If I could see all the files I would have just dragged and dropped.

My local hard drive on my mac is almost full which is why I have the glyph drive to save all my MPC work on it and not on my laptop hard drive.

See if there is a way to unhide DVD contents. The media that the install file installs has to be on the disk! Try the DVD in a Windows computer and see if the sounds are visible!

Ok I did that and it allowed me to view various install folders like the drivers, windows and Mac install folders. I still was not able to view the audio files and any of the folders I was able to view.

when you have the disk in the mac, you can't open finder and locate the mounted drive on the left and single left click it to show the full contents?

Had to split this thread from where it was originally posted, the OP's issue is clearly not a bug.
