Damn, Billmelater wont let me purchase the Ren on MusiciansFriend, I think I have a $500 limit for BML, that sucks because I would of got 4% cash back through BML plus the labor day coupon code would of brought it down to $1,104.15 so I could of been paying a tiny bit over $1000 and I wouldnt of had to pay a dime till March, I'm pissed now lol

I'm now considering american musical supply, they have a 5 payment plan which is nice and I think they said they were expecting the shipping date for the Ren to be on 9/9 while other sites say 9/11 and 9/14

If anyone has a higher limit on their BillMeLater I would definitely recommend going on the BML site, and to go through their cash back feature which will give you an extra 4% cash back offer they have with musician's friend.

I'm also thinking of trading my maschine + $250 for a mpc2500 with black screen black pads w/ram etc but I need a ride to BROOKLYN!!!! damnnnn

Sparq, both of those companies will allow you to pre-order and use their payment plans. I have done this several times in the past to include my Kronos and Apollo.

With all these companies naming products after Gods...I may have to change the name of my Ren when I send it to Forat.

I just pre-ordered at American Musical Supply with their ez payment option. You have to provide them with a credit or debit card # and they charge you a 1/5 of the total cost upon ordering, plus a $9 processing fee. The remaining balance will be deducted out of your credit or debit card in 1/4's for the next 4 months. No interest and no credit check. Sweetwaters payment plan requires a credit check. Expected to ship 9/9/12

Actually..if the product isn't in stock..they will only bill you once the item is shipped. Also...both companies may do credit checks when using their payment plans. A lot of times it will depend on the cost of the product and the number of months you spread payment over.

I have been known to do preorders for the same product with both companies. First company that ships...gets my money..and cancel the order from the other.

American Musical didnt do a credit check the other times I've used their ez payment plan. Didnt even have to provide my social. Just a credit card # and they charged it on the 31st of each month for the next 3 months. The Renaissance i just pre ordered didnt require anything but my credit card # as well... I'm going to cancel my order with Sweetwater. American Musical Supply also price matches...

It depends on what you buy (# of months and price).

If you attempt to purchase something exceeding $2000 and payments spread over 5 or more months....the credit department may email or telephone you. At least they did for me a few times in the past. 1-2 minutes later, my order was approved and shipped to me. AMS is not letting anyone simply walk off with a Moog Voyager without checking credit.

For me...

Don't ever use credit unless it's for a house, maybe even a car.

Nothing worse than 'owning' something you don't legally own.

If you really must have whatever it is, if it means so much, sacrifice, budget, save.

Live within your means, not outside of them.

"Never buy a whip till you can buy it twice"

I take that a step further.
I buy almost everything with cash, and never buy ONE of anything unless i can afford to buy 4 or 5 of it.

Only things like my house would I consider credit/loan...but even that...nah.
Car = Cash.
Studio Equipment = Cash.

"Nothing worse than 'owning' something you don't legally own." I don't know if there is nothing worse than that, lol, but I feel what he's saying.

I have a car payment. It wouldn't hold any special meaning to me if it were completely mine.....with the exception I will immediately sell it and use the money as a downpayment for my next new car.

PS - Lexus or Crown Athlete (below) if I get a promotion in Mar 13
