Newbie new disk Drive

Hi folks! I'd like to pop a disk drive into my 2500. I gather it has to be an IDE, but I'm wondering how successful people have been with SSDs? Does it load as fast as the CF card?

Can anyone tell me suppliers that have drives that have worked well for them?
