What exactly do you mean by #3? and also #4?
3. While in Sample Edit Mode of MPCs today, that pads are used to play back the sample displayed in the waveform editor in multiple ways (Loop, Play All, Play From Start, Play to Start, etc). But in models like the MPC 3000, that pads play the active program. This allows you to strike Pad A01 (Kick) and quickly edit the sample. Then strike Pad A01 and then quickly edit that sample. This is awesome for workflow.
Adding this to the Ren would be really awesome as it has a waveform editor. So striking different pads will change what is displayed in the editor. The Ren already does something similar in Chop Mode when audition is turned on. Striking a pads, selects that slice to be edited.
Maschine and I believe the MV-8800 has this feature as well.
4. This is from the MPC 4000 which allows you to insert up to 4 effects into the signal path of incoming audio. Most of the newer keyboard samplers (Fantom G, Korg Kronos, etc) have this feature as well. The JJ OS has a similar feature which adds a real-time pitch shifter on input. So you can quickly change the pitch of incoming audio and sample it.
With the MPC 2500, 5000, and the Ren, the only option is to assign a sample to a pad, add insert effects to it, and then enter Sample Record Mode to resample it.
