Is it real time like the 4k or do you have do like the other models turn dial, stop and play? And since you have strength you can select the range of note as to how much any one note is shifted?

Shift timing is in there so im pleased to do it by the good old fashioned dial
I have no love for nudging by buttons or mousing around. That way isn't as intuitive for me as I used it in ableton, logic, maschine and other sequencers. But that is just me.

Mpc workflow all the way.

It's real time. Everything I can think of off the top of my head can be done while the sequencer is running. The infamous MPC 5000 is also the same way. You can select note range. The MPC 5000's manual gives a clear explanation of this function.

Now that is fantastic strength plus timing shift is all I need and it has it. Great work Jah everything is clear now.

I am curious to see how the Ren performs with outboard hardware. Right now, I use my 2500 to sequence hardware keyboards/rack modules. I tried Cubase back in the day and some things i liked and some i didn't

Mainly, I liked that when i sequenced my outboard gear with Cubase, it was very easy to take the midi data and cut/copy/paste songs together on the screen. The downsides were that my drums frequently were stiff and did not groove the way I wanted, and I often spent time in piano roll shifting hits around.

Now I basically sequence a track with my 2500 and then use Cubase just as a recorder. The downside obviously is that I can track out three tracks at a time as my interface has 3 stereo in pairs. Therefore, I am making 2-3 passes to track out a song to audio.

It seems like the Ren would give me the same dilemna with tracking out, but while sequencing, there will be some of the benefits of point and click with building tracks, versus having to program a whole bunch of track mutes when building a song.

I would love to be able to see the names of patches from my hardware to show up within the Ren. This would be great for hardware that doesn't have a VST editor or for those that have poorly written editors.

How is the 6gb of sounds that come with the Ren? Anything good?

Yeah, I am curious about sequencing hardware since the Ren has the 4 midi outs. If integration isn't that great and it is only good sequencing VSTs then I would just stick with my 2500/Cubase combo, or maybe look into Maschine again.
