How do you control the MPC from an external sequencer?

I'm trying to use Cubase and I need to know how to control the MPC from an external sequencer

If you mean you want to seq with cubase and just use the mpc 4000 as sound mod. then im gona say you just wasted a good 3 gees cause most people get the mpc because of the seq. Now if you want to just be able to hit record on cubase and it tells the mpc to record then you need to set the mpc to run on midi clock and also go to transport options in cubase and also set that up to do the same and out of what midi interface out!

What part do you want to control? Do you want Cubase to trigger the MPC 4000's
sequence or do you want to trigger the MCP 4000's samples?


2 Different procedures for those, so you will need to detail what you want.

P.S. In regards to saying that he wasted a bunch of money, maybe get some more
background on what he's trying to do. For all you know he's been using the MPC 4000
for 2 years and friend of his showed up with his laptop with a SICK jam in Cubase
and they are wanting to just add some samples or just add some sequences for
their next track.

If not, then he maybe will get to know the Sampler engine and once is familiar with that,
will then tackle the seuqncer function.
