west coast synth boooyyyee

what keyboard/synthesizer makes these noises? you know gin and juice style. ive always wondered what dre used to make this

As a side note, I've always wondered this too.....especially from back in the day like "Gin and Juice" like you're saying. Never heard a synth sound quite like that, but I suspect it's an ancient analog something or other.....Dre's like a packrat for gear. He has tons of stuff that doesn't even get used most of the time.

its the upper part of a bass patch on a synth. like the hi keys. he uses the pitch wheel to make it have that slide effect.

he uses, a triton, a ms2000, a moog, original nord lead......mpc3000. And im sure he has shit loads of other things.

Im not particularly sure if those where exactly used on "gin and Juice", actually probably not, maybe the moog and mpc.

Those west coast whistles, you can get easy from the triton, or the ms2000. His bass is from the moog. there are some other synthish sounds from the moog, that have moog esk qualities to them.

Couple of his bangers he used some samples. Like eminem's "my name is" is actually an AC/DC sample. And some parliment was also sampled.

eminem's "real slim shady" uses the harpischord off the triton.

the nord lead is used for those clav like "nook" sounds.

there is a sine patch on the triton i use alot too. and there is a 2vco lead on the triton, that ive heard in couple dre beats.

alot of people hate on the triton like its used too much, but its nice for those west coast beats.

Minimoog, Propthet 5, etc, etc. All the new fake analog boards are capable of reproducing this sound as well as soft synths. Can you say............portamento?

the sounds your talking about are called leads, the Triton also has expansions to add even more lead sounds, theres's a lot of good ones, I love them sounds
