MPC 4000 Misconceptions

Yeah man. Way too many storage options to be concerned with a CF reader.

You have a USB port. You can hook a USB Hub to it and have a USB thumb drive and external HD connected to it, and a keyboard to type file names.

If you're trying to transfer files from your 2500 CF Card. Just hook your CF USB card reader and USB thumb drive to your computer and drag and drop folders from volume to volume.

Keep it simple and try not to overdo it.

Preferrably, I would like to have CF card readers/writers in all my MPCs so its easy to swap files among them.

If the 4K can use a USB CF card reader/writer, that would be great. Its just the one I have doesn't work.

So you're looking for an external usb cf cardreader correct? I found an internal IDE cf cardreader that's similar to the one used in the previous viewtopic.php?f=2&t=115047 link I posted earlier.

Plus keep in mind that the 4k is still a 1.1 and not 2.0 generation usb device.

Dude...stop following me around. One thing is clear is that I am an MPC fanatic. I was among the first MPC 4000 users on this planet. I had it during the initial OS update when it was buggy as hell. So I went back to an MPC 3000 and 2500.

One of my primary reasons for buying an MPC 4000 today is related to the MPC Ren. It allows me to understand what MPC 4000 users love about it, test compatibility with the Ren, and send this information to developers.

It's amazing how you back peddle! What happened to the 5000? I think it's important to be informed. But, you are always so misinformed no matter how much you read.

Hey Jah, my mortal enemy How ya doing..

I would be most interested in hearing how well loading a 4k programme including sequence data in to the Ren works out. Im sure it would be fine but it would be splendid to get an opinion.

Particular interest for me:

1. How well do the sounds translate. A non filtered Wav will sound exactly the same Im sure, but what about sounds that use the 4ks filters. Im not interested in teh FX and wouldnt expect them to be translated

2. Sequence data which uses 4k swing, shifted notes. This could be more difficult to notice any differences unless its real obvious if you know what I mean. But essentially in your opinion does the groove translate exactly, or do you hear a difference. There shouldn't be as the 4k is a couple of samples off being sample accurate. The Ren software is sample accurate and will have the resolution to play back any position of the notes previously recorded in to 4k sequencer then saved as a midi file. Of course you wont be able to test that if the Ren cant import a midi file. I would be surprised if it couldnt.

Labcoat already has his clean labcoat pressed and laid out ready for a night of testing. (when I pick up a Ren that is)


Anyway, Those two are my main interest so any info (when you get around to testing) would be very much appreciated
