Can anyone confirm that with the Ren u r able to make bank changes (MSB\LSB) as well as program changes? I went through the manual and ddnt see anything. Also I watched a vid on YouTube of the software and ddnt see a field for bank change only instrument, midi port, midi ch, program. This will be a HUGE BUMMER if the Ren cant do bank changes. Need to control my hardware.

While MIDI Program change is supported....MSB/LSB functions found in MPCs such as the MPC 5000 and 2500, are noticeable absent in OS1.

WOWSERS!!! This is one of the core elements of an MPC. I am bummed out, and this is wht I hated abt Maschine. Whts the use of 4 MIDI outs then?

You can still use the 4 MIDI outs. You just can't change bank settings onboard the Ren. You will have to do this onboard your synth.

I agree its a bummer. MIDI program change and bank select (MSB/LSB) have a symbiotic relationship with all the multibank synths we have today. My Korg Kronos has 14 banks in OS1. OS2 adds even more banks. I would like to access them from the Ren's hardware and software. It would be even better if the Ren can support importing of xml files which contains my synths patch names so they can be read directly from the Ren like Cubase. This is one of my long time feature requests going back to the release of the MPC 2500 and 5000.

I would say its not important but that's just because I mostly use plugins. But if you have a MOTIF Rack then I feel sorry for you, the sounds are dope but the graphic interface sucks, you definetly want that feature if you have to deal with a tiny a-- Yamaha screen. The fantom screen is dope, I have no problem reaching over to change the Banks and Patches if necessary.

Akai probally took a gamble on the PC user demographic...and in an effort to increase their customer base by attracting PC users (most of who may not currently be using outboard gear), this feature most likely fell in priority. When delivering software only 3 things can change, resources, dates, and features. So if the you all want the product ontime, and resources are limited, then deliverable features get reduced.

I think as long as it is included in an update within the first year all is well. It would have no effect on my desicion to purchase.

I gotcha. Program Change is cool, but its not even remotely sufficient. Say I am creating on the Ren using all 4 MIDI outs and I dnt finish with my creation in my DAW. I come back the next day and finish. Who wants to load up a project on 4 diff sound modules and then load another on the Ren. If the Ren saved my bank changes, I cld save all my tracks in one place. Turn the 4 modules on and put them in MULTI mode and load up my project on the Ren and everything plays beautifully. Bank changing is essential.

XML wld be nice as well.

I'm willing to bet there are more ppl with outboard gear than we think. If Akai implemented program changing then they may as well hv implemented bank changing, they were half way there. I hope it comes in the next update.

They totally **** this up on 5000 anyways. I'll be surprised if they get it right on the Ren.

You are preaching to the choir.
