Until they make this 64 bit, It is a paperweight to me.
I cannot even load 15 programs in an almost BLANK LOGIC SESSION without getting
"cannot save out of memory" message in logic!!

I run 16 gb ram quad core mbp 2.3 overclocked.
This is a shame, I can run sessions with 30 battery 3's open 5 kontakt 5's
omnisphere's...... huge sessions are on my template. They are 64 bit so it works fine.

It just isnt going to work.

Once more ppl get hands on this Thing they will start to really really get a bad cloud over this unit if its not fixed.

Whats even crazier is, their is no sync to midi clock in the REN!! so I can't even run it in stand alone mode and sync it logic and try it like that.
Like any other mpc I have had , and even Maschine!!

Man this sucks!!!

Have you tried using it oustide of Logic and then exporting the audio into Logic after your initial tracking.

How big are your samples....Hey are you tring to use plugins in REN, while REN is a plugin in Logic...It that even possible? JAH help heal the sick! (myself included)

[I don't have one yet so, I can't really help....just throwing ideas out]

In Stand Alone Mode, the Ren sends MTC and MIDI Clock but doesn't receive them as of OS1. When used as a plugin within Logic, it should sync to Logic's transport.

The MPC Ren is 32 bit so it will obviously have the same limitations as any 32 bit app. The Ren is much more than just a VST host. Just like a traditional MPC, it has both drum and key group/instrument programs. You can create the same type of projects you have always done on hardware MPCs without a hiccup. There are numerous ways to worth within the limitations of the 32 bit products. I am still running 32 bit apps myself.

But your problem with 15 programs in Logic....can you clarify exactly what you are trying to accomplish?
By dorsey Fri Sep 14, 2012 5:05 am
Jah, the only thing I am trying to accomplish is loading 15 programs that I use and working the same way I do in maschine, just producing.
I am not hosting any plugs in the ren. It couldnt handle it in 32 as a plugin.
It syncs fine inside logic, it just the 32bit limitation.

I mean I was on a blank logic template, not even my real template and I still get the out of memory message.

There is no way to use that.

IAC routing and Soundflower from standalone Ren into Logic? Hardly optimum but I can't think what else you'd do in the meantime waiting for a 64 bit build to be released.

Got it. So you are using the Ren inside of a blank Logic Project and loading 15 programs inside of the MPC Ren?

1. What type of programs? MPC Drum or Keygroup..

2. Are you using MPC content or your own samples? Total size of samples

3. When you have your Activity Monitor Look like (CPU, System Memory, Disk Activity/Usage, Network). Can you load the project that is giving you issues then take screen shots of the screens (using Grabber)?

4. Did you post the details of issues you had with specific plugins in the bug thread?

If you can send me anything you have, I can verify and send to Akai.

Got to get you up and running on Logic.

Ok, I will but the cpu load is fine and It didnt crash. It's just logic giving me the out of memory warning, when that happens you can't save your project anymore.

There is only 4 gigs of ram able to used for 32 bit programs, the other 12 I have is where the 64bit stuff pulls from so they are fine.

Out of 4 gigs you may get 1.3 free once logic is loaded and system stuff.

The programs I was pulling in where simple mpc drum programs it shipped with, They only use one bank in each one, I wasnt going to use them for real, but If it is giving me those messages with that, I think Im in trouble....

dorsey wrote:Will IAC sync the ren to logic?

I don't know how the syncing would work if the IAC menu doesn't have any settings regarding MTC and MIDI clock. The Soundflower setup will show your interface (the Ren's I suppose), the inbuilt I/O, and Soundflower itself as a device for audio and MIDI.

I'm looking at this - http://www.logicprohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10946

I'm sorry I can't offer more help but I don't use my OS X very often and I don't have a Ren. Just hate to see you not being able to use those quality instruments you mentioned. Just throwing a shot in the dark out there hoping you find a temporary "duct tape" type solution.

So I am confused about this plug in for logic. I have no problem exporting files but if this is seems to be the one feature I can't figure out. reinstalled software today but heres everything I have been told to do.
Image
audio units manager
Image
library /audio where plug ins are usually found. empty vst here
Image

I am running in 32 bit. Can't find a mpc plug in folder besides the empty vst in picture 2

Mac only uses au plugins right?

I use logic as my mainstay but I don't have Ren yet. But every plugin I installed
was the audio units versions I never even install a vst folder on my hd. Plus the plugin drop down should say au instruments. That folder you have open is only the build in apple effects not instruments. Dude you have to open the instrument's window.

"Dude you have to open the instrument's window".. solved my problem  I was looking for it in effects when really you just need to create an new track.. and select external midi..it also has to be turned on
I had a feeling the pictures might help explain what I was doing wrong. I owe you one
