It isn't. I've talked to several Ren owners who have the same problem. And I can reproduce it. I did this video 10 min ago, just to show how often it happens.

The music: Pardon the cinematic'ness of this. My team and I do a lot of music for TV (Jersey Shore, E!, Fox news, Burger King commercials, movies, etc). I'll gladly upload this project get it to a developer (Jah, I got you...).

As for now, I have to do every variation I want of a sequence, in ONE sequence...to dodge a crash.
Crashes also happen at random other times, but the most problematic is when copying seq.
Some of the projects I've done that I cant reopen, because they crash, crash when it gets to loading "All Sequences"....

I'm trying to notice a pattern in what crashes and how, but i'll leave that to the pros before i put up guesses.

It's hard to tell in that video but are you on PC or Mac IMMB?

That's really weird.
How many plug ins did you have pulled up.
I know if you run out of memory you can get a stopped communicating error.
Have you tried another USB port?

I'm going to go back to 1.0 today again to try and replicate this.
I wonder if it's a driver issue.

I have one instance of each: Kontakt, Omnisphere, and Trilian.

plugins used on my track mixer: Auto Pan Sync, and Compressor Vintage. That's It.
I have a Reverb Small on Return 1, and PEQ 2 Band on the Master FX Bus.

In my program mixer for some drums, I've used another Autopan Sync, PEQ 4-Band twice,

As you'll see, its very minimal, and other than the instruments used, the inserts and send fx are all native to the MPC Software. I purposely tried to not use the external plugins I normally use, just looking for one of them to cause this problem. 8gb of Ram, and the CPU isn't bogged down. It runs fine, until its time to copy a sequence. And some times, it won't open a beat I just made. I have to open the seqs and programs individually, then go in and mix it again. Because I can't reliably copy sequences (2 bars, 4 bars, doesn't matter), I have to make one 24 bar sequence lol, and just put it all in there.

I'm zipping up this session, and will include the crash codes for developers. I'll try another usb port, thanks man.

Ok that's what I wanted to know.
Can you try and get it to crash without having Kontakt, Omnisphere, and Trilian pulled up?
I'm 99% sure it's one of those plug ins doing it.

Au plugin Bug. When I use any Au plugin and hit external play notes on external keyboard, Notes Stick (as if the sustain pedal is active, but when i hit sustain pedal, notes stop. Its backwards). Also tons of crashing 10.6.8. Also Have 8gb of ram in macbook pro and after about 3 VST instruments, its gets buggy and glitchy. Buffer @ around 764. $1300 for a bunch of bugs. WOW! We def. should be getting updates soon. Akai we have work to do!!! Love it but, not the bugs..

1. Macbook pro 10.6.8, 8gb RAM
2. Snow Leopard
3. All AU plugin produce the same bug. (do you have this problem as well)
-Its only when I hit notes from external keyboard using AU plugs not Vst's
4. External Keyboard being used is Fantom x6
5. Does not crash, Im just not able to use any of my AU plugins bc notes gets stuck
6. Simplest things produce Crashing.
-Copying sequences
-Clearing programs
-Duplicating Inst Program
-Others (Happens Randomly)
7. Lag in scrolling through Samples with arrow keys
8. Dragging duplicate Inst Prog doesn't work.
9. Love and Hate Relationship with OS 1.0 ($1300)

All Au plugins produce same issue. Sylenth, Vangaurd by Refx, Kontakt by NI. Any AU PLUG I use, the notes get stuck. This doesn't happen when I use Vst's. Am I the only one with this issue?

Drum programming is Wonderful. But midi and Plugins is a Nightmare! I have 8gb RAM, 5.58GB unsed, MPC buffer on 1024, Using 1 Plug in (Massive by NI) and its dragging slowly not even playing at correct tempo. Very glitchy when it comes to using plugins. Almost feel like returning the thing. Forgive the complaints, I was just expecting more being that it took sooo long to come out. Maybe I'll try using it as a plugin with the Super Stabled Logic.

I can't get the MPC software to load into my DAW (tried with Ableton Live 8.2.1 and FL Studio 10)

I get the following:




Any thoughts?

Also, not sure if this has been mentioned. But the software crashes when doing the following:

Load Plugin into New Track
Turn on Step Sequencer
Turn on a few pads in the step sequencer
Begin playback
Press "NEXT SEQ" button while it is playing back

Win7 x64/16gb ddr3/i7 cpu

Another bug --

Load Plugin into New Track
Play note on pads and hold note
While holding note, press Track+
Release pad, note will play indefinitely

If those are the RAM totals you're right at the 32bit limit of around 2.5GB allocatable to the app. Massive 32bit can easily rock a CPU to 35-60% depending on the CPU. No surprise you'd have to use a 1024 buffer, you have 81.9MB physical RAM available in the session you described and whatever else it's running off has to be virtual memory from the HD.

Just out of curiosity what is taking up the 2GB+ of RAM? Massive would need a fraction of that RAM to run, again it just whacks CPU's at times.

I hope you guys get a 64 bit build ASAP, as it will solve any of the kind of woes you and others are having with larger sessions or hungry VST/AU's.

1. Once you installed the software initially, you have to unlock the software in standalone mode before you can use it as a plugin. It's in the manual.

2. I can't produce the Step Edit/Next Seq bug. Will continue to try.

3. I can produce the stuck note. A valid issue but not uncommon with MIDI devices; reported.

Can you get around the 32 bit limit by hosting your 64 bit plugins within your 64 bit DAW but then use the Ren strictly as the sequencer?
