And moyphee when I get my unit in Oct I'm going to enjoy it and bang out some beats instead of worrying what the next man has. I will definitively give my own first hand view of it. Thing is if it goes contrariy to what you expect as an answer what are you going to do? Dismiss it or move on?

First, you didn't read anything concerning what someone choose to buy or use in my post. My first response had nothing to do with the Ren and solely about the value a celeb endorsements vs. that of actual users which I personally see as more useful and substantive -for that matter neither did my second. Feature videos are better left to reps like Andy or Dan - not celebs regurgitating a scripted line.

I think there words are worth their weight in gold when referencing the machines they've mastered in relation to a new piece but they don't mean much when you can clearly see the machine is foreign to them.

If my position on celeb endorsements doesn't change you to have the same options. Dismiss it or move on.

Your reasoning has holes in the argument.
Fact is you decided long ago that it was going to be a flop and no one could make music with it and now it seems you just have the need to justify your choice and for what and to whom a forum dedicated to the Other mpc the Ren which you never intend to purchase or even try out cuz you never be satisfied. C'mon man it is just gear no one should or could try to convince you otherwise if your mind is closed to possibilities. But for me a decided purchaser the videos were good, the presentations are well made and I don't think you know what you are talking about really on the Ren. But hey we both share the 4k which is an excellent unit. I think that Guru the engineer explains the Ren functions well, and I intend to buy it. More power to ya.

Take care and bang on,

1. I never predicted it to be flop but I have always been clear that if Numark continued with it's practices it would be.

2. Neither you or anyone else has any statement on this pointing to me implying that you can't make music on this or any other software.

3. My choices are my own and I don't have to justify them to anyone.

4. As far me being satisfied that's not for you or anyone to say. Your obvious pumped about the Ren so anything less than praise will upset you. However, I didn't know the forum was set up to be a back patting session. Your inability to handle Ren criticism is not my burden.

Rock on bruh.

The new website is way better and easier to navigate, to me. Akai also seems to have delivered some videos since I've been gone, showing off some of the features and workflows unique to the new MPC. Not bad. It seems that they've gotten the right idea, now…making it easier for people who just want the info in one place instead of sitting around and plodding through endless forums and such. :)

There you go will now with the attacks and the sly remarks cuz I disagreed with you after years together on the 4k. I guess the ugly mean side comes out if we are on the other pages. It's your choice of words that real users need to evaluate the Ren like all the current and future users aren't real users. And each time something else comes and I'm thinking what is so important cat is cool on the 4k but constantly on about what another fellow musician is buying when it comes to the Ren. It is all about the music all the other stuff is just noise cmon now. If I came to your studio bang out on your unit and you came to my crib and I got the 4k and Ren setup nothing would matter just us making music all the other nonsense about akai this, celebrity this, video that wouldn't matter a hill of beans, would it?

I just don't understand why you complain so much over something you are not going to buy  It means nothing to me cuz I know YOU ARE HAPPY WITH THE 4K. I think that the videos are great not just some fake asses for the money. And I simply think you need to chill a bit. You say celebrity, I say producer/buyer that is all. And this thread is about informative videos for the Ren/Studio users.

Everybody has an opinion but I think you are mistaken this one B!

Guru explains it well. He isn't talking out his ass.

There's no mean side coming out. I don't have to be committed to buying something to have an onion or to have a critique based on company practices. My position is simple I believe the end retail user is the best gauge. Again, my problem is with celeb endorsers across the board not just Akai.

You aren't interested in the Ren so what is going on? 4k is still going to make beats for years to come. You gotta use what works for ya. Ren has potential from the get go so I'm buying when it's released our here as I have been saying from Jan.

It's not a know the Ren. There's a difference between coached celeb testimonial and real user statements. More valuable than any of these vids are the words of actual users. I'm not knocking marketing but when I see these vids they all come off as scripted.

The other thing is that when it comes to celeb endorsements usually none of there music was made on the product they endorse. Secondly when you see them down the road they still aren't using it. This reminds of how JD was praising the MV when you could tell he saying what he was asked to say.

The product has the ability to stand on it's own merit without fluff. I think people appreciate real world use than celeb spots. As an example, the svankov demo sold more APC40s than any celeb ever could. Then there's 9th Wonder rocking out with a 1000. A celeb using what he actually uses but not picked as an endorser. Thez all i'm saying.

I get what you're saying, but I think it was a little different in this case. For one, we obviously know none of these producers actually use the Ren, because 1) it wasn't out yet, and 2) several of them said on the video's that they can't wait to get a Ren of their own. Secondly, a lot of these producers in these videos were actually consulted on the Ren before the first prototype was even made as well as when the prototype was being tested. These guys are in the actual credits.

Premier has been using a 60 since the early 90's, and has never switched to a newer MPC, yet here he is pictured just buying his Ren, not even before it was released, but over a week after it's release. Must be something about it he genuinely likes to get one. So I don't really think much of this marketing is fluff. These aren't "just some celeb endorsers", these are people that actually used MPC's for probably a good majority of their lives.

Those videos are so wack! The editing is crazy too, they are cutting mad parts off the interviews haha  !

Akai needs to blow a dick! :fku: I'll never buy a ren.

If NI's marketing scheme is working effectively, (posting videos, tutorials, bundling vsts, bringing updates etc...) Then I think akai is smacking them in the face with their own medicine. At least Akai has videos with Marly Marl, Premier, Pete Rock, Q-Tip, people who actually make good music and I have heard of. Also, they all are well known mpc users. NI posts these videos with people I never heard of, it's hilarious.

Also, I will bet akai comes real quick with that first OS update just to prove they are paying attention to the product and support. Maschine has said it will update to 1.8 since June, and they are only adding a few simple features/add-ons. Then we don't get an announcement about 1.8 but one that reveals the release of a new ugly maschine with barely any differences with all these rainbow colors which is obviously biting off the Ren. Akai just came out barely and we are already expecting the first OS update a month later.

Akai has taken notes and changed their approach drastically, how can anyone talk that crap and call them nu-kai with a bad tone as if they aren't doing anything. I hope akai/numark or whatever continues with their "practices" bc obviously they are smacking the maschine in the face with their support, marketing, and fan interaction. The actual developers come to this forum which is totally not a part of their business, and they come and talk to the fans to see what can be done to better the product. That is apart from their actual support forum on their website.

Anyways, I just see people being haters, but in reality, Ren is already killing it and it hasnt even been released to the masses yet. Also, some dude makes 6 different threads complaining about how the Ren isnt 64 bit and not working in Logic. We heard you the first time, after you made 1000 posts complaining abut something that doesnt even matter to most Ren users, or most producers in general, thats mad annoying, now I hope hope they just keep it 32 bit for the hell of it. half the posts in these forums is some kid begging for 64 BIT, can we expand the topics? Maybe it's Logic and not the Ren, go complain to apple about their product, akai has stated multiple times the Ren is 32 BIT, the more you complain the more you divert their attention from the real issues and bugs that need updating.

Did you post that on NI's site?

64 bit is a very real issue in 2012 on a platform that intends to host modern VST's. Just pointing out you really wouldn't want Akai to push implementing that to the side. There is no reason a capable company with competent coders can not do bug fixes and work on a 64 bit build at the same time. Unless your company is called Ableton, then it might take 3-4 years.

Exactly! That's why they shouldn't be chiming in features they've never used. These are the guys Akai should be using vouch for things like timing, swing, and vintage mode emulation, and workflow . Characteristics that they are well respected on - not stuff they're seeing just recently.

. Their EIE interface customers will tell you different. How Numark starts and how they usually behave long term are starkly different.

I've never predicted that the Ren would flop. I do make it clear that if they do the same as the have in the past it will indeed flop. Hype at launch doesn't usually translate into support down the road. This is true of all MPCs launch by Akai under Numark. That just a fact of how Numark does business.

But they obviously have used the Ren and are familiar with it. They just haven't used it on any projects because it wasn't out/done yet. But they consulted on the thing, so I'm sure while Dan was hauling it around to different studios months ago, most, if not all, of these producers got to spend a good amount of time using it and giving critical feedback on it. Guru even posted a pic of Pete Rock making a beat on the Ren in the studio at least 6 months ago. It's not like they have a bunch of die-hard 505 users vouching for the thing. They have actual MPC users, that actually know MPC's.

EDIT: Perfect example:

I've seen the videos. I'm not arguing anyone involvement or to what degree. I merely feel that many of the questions commonly asked would be squashed if they used those guys experience as i described perhaps along with thier current role.

* I can't any of those guys having to buy their own unit after consulting, endorsing, and shooting promo vids.
