Yeah really, no way that's Primo returning from his jaunt to Guitar Center.

.

You have questioned every aspect of this product...reasons why Akai is doing it, quality of the hardware, stability of the OS, inclusion of forum members testing, customer/technical support, marketing and promotion.....even your signature is related to the issue.

What's next?

Your only role in this section of the forum is to sow seeds of doubt. I remember when you were a huge MV fan trolling the heck out of this forum. Now you say you have an MPC.

Yes, you predicted and hoped Akai would fail. In a few years, I can see you here claiming you have always supported the product and that you were just addressing valid concerns...

...and you've done all you can stop people from forgetting Numarks history, practice and even current product failures. Asking tough questions and raising real issues is the only way of not having a repeat of Mixmeister Control and/or MPC5000. When companies know customers are paying attention they tend to take issues more seriously.

You call it doubt. I call it history and fact. State what you believe to be false and I will clarify.

I remember when you were a huge MV fan trolling the heck out of this forum. Now you say you have an MPC.

Your hypocrisy aside , I never said anything about owning MPCs. BH remembers that I was a 4000 user on this forum before buying an MV. No need to nitpick during a exchange when his point was made.

Yes, you predicted and hoped Akai would fail.

I predict even now that if Akai screws it's customers again the MPC line is finished. The MPC software cannot be allowed to be treated like the 5000, under-supported like past hardware , or abandoned and unfixed in one year like Mixmeister controller+software combo. Akai's failure or success depends just that.
numark has a huge graveyard of ditched controllers so the concern is valid.
Hope has nothing to do with it.

I don't think it really matters who they put in the videos. No matter who they use to endorse it, nothing even remotely negative or criticizing will ever make it into the video. So it will always be a "script" of some sort. They aren't going to ask the endorser "how do you feel about the product?" They are going to ask "what is it you like about the product?" So frankly, I don't really think you'd approve of any endorser, celebrity or civilian, in an Akai made promo vid. Either way, the message will be the same.

My point is that many of these producers actually used the product while it was in development, and helped make it what it is. I really don't think there is even anyone more qualified at the moment to do these vids. According to what you're suggesting, they'd have to release the final product first, let it marinated for a few months, then interview producers that use the product everyday and drop these promo vids several months after the product has already been sitting on shelves.

"Many of the questions commonly asked" are getting squashed every time a new video drops, whether from Akai, or from a regular customer. Also, the Young Guru MPC University videos have answered a lot of the questions, and they still have another 5 University vids confirmed coming soon. So I really can't see what more you are asking for!

I do agree with this though!

I dont think this will be ditched. i really believe that hardware/software integration is about to take off and maschine and renaissance will lead the way. seems like a lot of improvements and having software opens so many windows. these videos are nice and exactly what i wanted to see.

edit: ive never had any akai/numark products so ive never experienced the way they handle their products but this is something special that will be around for a long time imo

I've always been supportive of actual current user testimonials. In the other thread i cited Earnie Ball and Marshall. Pearl, Hohner , and Alembic follow the same pattern. If they're endorsing the product it's because they already bought and are established users.

I just feel these guys could have been used to put hardware users at ease. they would have been able suash any questions regarding the Ren retain it's legacy traits. My personal feeling have nothing to do with it. It's just smart usage of your promotion personnel. I'm not asking for anything merely stating my opinion.

That's what I'm saying! At this point we are currently at, this is completely impossible as the thing has just barely shipped! There are no real established users yet, other than those that consulted on it. Even many of the beta testers didn't even have the hardware to test. It wouldn't have been wise, IMO, to wait until people have been using the thing for weeks or months after it's release to make some promo vids, especially when the competition is prepping a big release within a few weeks and at the same time people all over complaining that Akai is so quiet lately.

I've always been supportive of actual current user testimonials.

So tutor, Hellfire, Imakemadbeats, Switch, Elohimfetus and a list of others testimonials count too right?

You are entitled to your opinion even though we may disagree at this time. We agree several years back on going back and forth with jah on the 5k and 4k with Numark finally releasing a OS 2.0 and admittance it was actually a 3500 with a name change  I understand the history of the company very well.

I`m definitively a hardware user up to last yr and a half until I started to give Maschine a try and it opened my mind to a new way of working. Maschine allow me to do alot things and 21st century drum programming and integrated sampling came an reality. I, however, always return to my mpc 4k cuz of the far easier workflow even using the mpc more as a midi controller sequencer with software sampling as you may have seen JD using the mpc 60 to control maschine set and I have a pic of Dr Dre doing the same with 3k controlling VSTs of trillan and kore. My point and opinion is that the same cats have always wanted the power of software but the mpc workflow cuz it is a powerful combination and if Maschine cuz be the trailblazer then Akai could follow up it would be the next step. These cats Premo, Pete, 88 Keys, Q Tip and others are some of the most diehard hardware users on the planet. In my opinion they would be some of the realest producers to talk about hip hop and the tools to make it.

Yes I agree it is highly intelligent to ask the forefathers of the genre there input and take of the latest mpc instead of just getting joe blow nobody ever heard any of their joints. And the same happened to pete before he switch to 2000xl as everyone said he was a sp1200 head and doing covers on scratch but he still uses it to this day. People can change. I did once I got maschine and you and Jah know I loved nothing but the 4k before.

Peace bruth

And you have countered in everyone of the same threads to remind everyone about Numarks history, practice and even current product failures. Even to the annoyance of those that love the products you keep dissing such as the 5000. (and you don't own an MPC now? ) That is all you ever do and the only purpose you have in this forum today. But as I stated in another thread, I certainly don't mind having this conversation with you as long as you communicate like an adult.

I am here for the sole purpose of advancing the MPC line even to the annoyance of Tutor and Clint. (I love Akai threads is for OT section) I want to see more forum members using it and to help make it an even better product. I am here doing the same thing as I have with every new MPC release. I tell members why I am excited and while also discussing things I dislike or want to see added or changed.

Join in the movement or simply continue to play the role of the MPC Ren antagonist. Your feedback is needed. :-D

Follow-up:
Akai Pro Japan MPC 2000XL < Numark/Akai MPC 2500 *regardless of which OS you choose.

The one thing that I would like to see more of is the features videos. Its good that Akai has some legends promoting the unit, but I want to see more videos of Young Guru, Andy Mac, or whoever showing demos and features. The stores that are getting the units do not have one for display purposes so these videos are often the only way to see the unit in action since they don't have one hooked up to play with.
