Any thoughts?

Edit:

Also, not sure if this has been mentioned. But the software crashes when doing the following:

Load Plugin into New Track
Turn on Step Sequencer
Turn on a few pads in the step sequencer
Begin playback
Press "NEXT SEQ" button while it is playing back

Win7 x64/16gb ddr3/i7 cpu

Edit 2:

Another bug --

Load Plugin into New Track
Play note on pads and hold note
While holding note, press Track+
Release pad, note will play indefinitely

1. Once you installed the software initially, you have to unlock the software in standalone mode before you can use it as a plugin. It's in the manual.

2. I can't produce the Step Edit/Next Seq bug. Will continue to try.

3. I can produce the stuck note. A valid issue but not uncommon with MIDI devices; reported.

Jah, I have unlocked the MPC and standalone is currently the only way that I am able to use the MPC. Thanks for the help

Can you get around the 32 bit limit by hosting your 64 bit plugins within your 64 bit DAW but then use the Ren strictly as the sequencer?

I don't have a Ren and although I have Logic on my OS X, I'm mostly a windows guy. Does Logic have a "wrapper" for 32 bit when it hosts at 64 bit. If it did what your describing sounds doable.

Only other option and I wouldn't recommend it unless you run Windows and jbridge is something you'd use , is the jbridge Mac beta that Joao sent to his licensed users. Like the Windows jbridge you can take a 32 bit plugin and wrap it so it can surpass the RAM limit. Even in a 32 bit host the jbridge wrapped 32 bit plugin can get at all the installed RAM.

But again it's just a beta he threw out there for his dual boot customers, so I can't really say "spend the $30 or whatever it is". But if somebody did I'd be curious of the results.

I'll install the beta before the weekend is up and see how it goes in Logic. But again I have no Ren to test the jbridge beta on. If a Ren owner is ever in Western New York State, holler at me and bring a Ren and then we can test the jbridge. Or hopefully one of you knows a dual booting jbridge owner.

I'm positive I've seen someone else on here mention they have jbridge, hopefully they have a Ren too to test this.

Something went wrong with your installation. You should re-read page 13 in your manual and try to unlock it again. If you are using it on a different computer, you will have to do some of the same processes again.

Question...on the 'About MPC' page does the software state it is registered to you in the lower left hand corner of that page?

Ok that's what I wanted to know.
Can you try and get it to crash without having Kontakt, Omnisphere, and Trilian pulled up?
I'm 99% sure it's one of those plug ins doing it.

Thanks for trying to help homey.

I deleted all the instances of those Omnis, Trilian, and Kontakt. Saved it as new project. The only thing in this project were sample chops and the Aka native plugins.

I then tried to copy a sequence and the same thing happened.

In some beats this doesn't happen. In others it does. Some of them use instrument plugins, some of them don't. It's been hard to pin down the key cause to this.

Jah, you got it.

MPC Ren Screen issue...

Hey guys, Firstly I just wanted to say I'm new to posting on the forums but have been on them looking, reading, and learning. Waddup errbody!

I'm experiencing something with my screen and am trying to confirm if it is bug related, or hardware...

Some sections of my mpc screen do not display the white evenly. It looks like its wavy, and only really visable when in TRACK MUTE. when all the pads come up white(lcd), waves can be seen in the LCD on the 15% of the left side, and 15% of the right side. Is anyone else experiencing this? bug or hardware fault?

Also, when browsing through BROWSER and scrolling through folders, the destination address whill be missing pieces sometimes...etc "c:/windows/programs..." as an example: it will be missing parts of O, W and OGR in "programs" Its random and doesn't seem like the issue keeps happening with the same pixels. Just trying to figure this out so I know to look out for an update, or contact AKAI or GC.

PS. I went through the bug thread and others to see if this was coverd, but couldnt find anything..

thnx.

When I first got Ren I turned it on and said, "Oh God! The screen is jacked up on this thing!" It had four sets of faint white double lines about 1/2 inch from each other. When I read the manual on how to change the display (Hold Shift and Turn Scroll Knob) I was able to get rid of the lines.

Once, when the software was acting buggy, some of the words on the screen got omitted. Stuff like "rack" instead of "Track," but when I turned Ren off and relaunched these issues disappeared. I chaulked it up to software issues that I hope will be worked out in future updates, but I am keeping my eye on it.

I have been experiencing these issues as well Akai support team is fully aware of this and are working on it. Its looking like a software issue for now. Stay Tuned new software update will correct these issues hopefully.

Yea...I adjusted the contrast on day 1 but can't balance it out. If I make the mute pad look right, my main screen will have lines going up and down and vice versa
Thanks for the update. Good to know its not just me. And thanks JAH for the reply as well. I went over the border an picked it up at GC and really don't want to drive back for a return. Will wait for an update and hopefully that resolves.

Other than this, the thing is a beast. The retro look is awsome an makes me think of gundam or some Japanese ish like that.

Jah -- On the 'About Me' section it does say that it is registered to me. I have un-installed, re-installed, still can't get the VST to load in my DAW.

Also, I'm getting crashes whenever I try to create a new program from a recorded sample. I have set my input into my sound card's internal loopback (for recording samples directly from my PC's outputs), get about a 20 second sample, try to chop via BPM, Convert > New Program, and boom crashes every time.

Anyone else getting crashes when try to create a new program from sliced samples? Can anyone else replicate this?

Thanks

Not sure if anyone's caught this yet or not - I run osx 10.7.4. Crash upon undoing a normalize.

steps to reproduce:
1. record sample,
2. chop,
3. normalize a region,
4. undo it
5. ->crash

I'm running MAC 10.7.2
it happens to me also i tried a couple of times also noticed you cannot name the samples from the hardware also.

KONTAKT 5 & OMNISPHERE ISSUE

Hello, running into an issue where the Renn is choking and stuttering when changing sequences using Kontakt 5 & Omnisphere VST (both updated to current versions). MPC stutters and then catches back up after about 4 bars. I'm getting a shorter stutter when i remove Omnisphere from the sequences but it's still glitchy with 3 stereo instances of Kontakt enabled. Two instances of upright piano & the 3rd running Abbey Roads drums.

Has this one been reported?

Vendor: Spectrasonic
Plugin Name: Omnisphere
Plugin Type: VST & AU
Version: 1.56d 32bit
OS: 10.7.4 OSX 64-bit
PC spec: 2x2.8 Quad core Mac Pro 14GB RAM
Specific details about the issue: MPC Renn is CPU spiking & audio is dropping out when changing sequences in song mode & also when manually changing between sequences while they are playing.

Vendor: Native Instruments
Plugin Name: Kontakt 5

PC spec: 2x2.8 Quad core Intel Xeon Mac Pro 14GB RAM
