and awesome! some of us still heavily use the mpc60 and the s900 (myself especially along with the x7000) it's a lot of fun.

Does that prototype 60 have the same motherboard/OS/expansion capabilities as the mpc60? for example, was it the same motherboard design as what we finally got?

The ADR15 prototype was exactly the same as the MPC60, except for the name and flip screen. It was fully functional and even had the memory expander installed. I never tried out (or saw) the Linn MIDI Studio.

And this is an out-take from a photo session about a month later with three members of Michael Jackson's band, when they were on the BAD Tour. Top row, from the band are Ricky Lawson (drums), Greg Phillinganes (keys), Rory Kaplan (keys). I'm seated. Greg is doing the devil sign. They did Akai clinics in nearly every city where they played on that tour (including a lot in the UK).

Forthcoming. Let me get my mind wrapped around it first. Basically, we built one unit but it never came out as a product. We did show it to the public at one NAMM Show.

whats the mixer looking rack mount above the s900 and whats underneath the s900?

The mixer is the MPX820. Seem to be a mixer with some midi capabilities (probably something like muteing channels).
The thing underneath the s900 is a MG14D. Its a Multitrack Tape Recorder but it uses proprietary tape.
I've read that it uses this one here



And yes, these photos looking great. Espacially the one in the studio. It really spread the vibe of "pioneers at work"
