MPC3000 & SL3000XL floppy disk

I dont own either machine at this point, just the floppies. Presently working with Logic Pro & Pro Tools on an Intel base Mac Book Pro. HOW do I copy the floppies to cd from a pc Once I have all on cd I know what to do from there, esx24 has conversion software. Or will this be easier with the MPC Renassance?

Help please!!!

Get a little USB floppy drive; I know I can just copy and move around my 2k OS but worse case scenario you have to use something to make an exact disk image of the floppy disks like toast or some ish then you can burn that image/or files to a cd.

Thanks for taking the time, when I put the floppy in Win 7 doesn't see anything on the floppy, is there some kind of software that I can run to get windows to see it

Are you trying to use the midi data or something? Unless y'all know something I don't know, I doubt this can be accomplished unless you have the actual hardware or use a program such as chicken sys to translate what's on the floppies.

And even after translating, it still needs to be transfered to a selected medium.

Im looking at minimum to just grab the samples, I can recreate the sequences myself. But from what your saying It sounds like I should wait for the MPC Ren, which has usb ports and is compatible with all MPC's ever made. Hmmm, ty for the feedback gentlemen.

Are you using a built in floppy drive in a tower? Or an external USB floppy drive.


In response to the other poster about reading your MPC floppies in a computer, I do it all the time..

I use a SmartDisc USB Floppy on my '07 MBP for backing up my ASR-10 sound files. The floppy drive is plug n play with no issues on Snow Leopard and Win7 on my BootCamp partition.

Nice, haven't attempted with the Mac yet, discovered my floppy drive is defective (had the damn thing long enough). Going to purchase the SmartDisc usb floppy and move from there.
