Has anyone used their 4k to work daw midi tracks, vsti's, or even vst's? I've used mine in this situation before because ak.sys made this happen.

Didn't realise what it was at the time, but looking back on it, it's very similar to acting as a dedicated controller too.

But again, this only works if you use it with ak.sys.

Just use the 4k as a controller to your daw with ak.sys activated (usb connected of course) and assign it to work the midi channels.

Without ak.sys, it won't trigger any assigned samples coming from the 4k. In other words, samples/instruments will unintentionally show as numeric info (0-127) in your daw track info page, but you're able to select whatever you want and record this as midi data in your daw.

I use my 4k as another midi instrument so all triggering is done via external controller.

It's deeper than just using midi only. The 4k acts as a drag/drop module if you use ak.sys along with your daw multitrack s/w.

I understand that a majority around here don't have the use of ak.sys for whatever reasons. So without having this option in a functioning workable state, you'll never understand what it is I'm getting at.

You mean drag and drop of audio files?

One of the reasons i don't use aksys is that I get a ground loop when usb connects PT HD DAW to 4k USB. Wish there was some sort of usb isolator. i use a 10 channel DI box for analog outs so the audio signal is clean....

Yeah, technically you're not doing the drag/drop thing. But because you're connected between the mpc and your daw via ak.sys, you're able to access file data through your daw program.

All it takes is setting the 4k up as one of your instruments within your daw.
