Removing the hood off the MPC 2000... help me!

How do I do that? I know I gotta unscrew all the screws - but how do I get the hood off??

Seems that the Note Variation Slider is in the way

Should I remove that??

Help me out here - I need to install some extra RAM quick.

Yes, pull the variation control slider straight up & it should come off neatly. Once that is off there isn't anything else in the way. Also, remember to keep something like a glass or ashtray close by to hold all those screws.

Oh yes ......... make sure you are earthed so you don't risk damaging any circuitry with static.

On the MPC2000 be careful with the screen. It's glued to the casing

Not sure if it's different on the 2000 but on the XL to install the ram you have to remove the bottom of the MPC, not the "hood".

Yes, you have to remove the bottom on both xl and 2k.

Yeah, its easy as gell to install the memory, you just slide it into the slots.... but be carefull....i JUST installed mine...and now some of my samples are messing up.....i'll hit a pad and the sample will sound all scratchy and completely messed up...

has anyone had this problem or know what i can do to fix it?....

it only happens occasionally....and i have no clue what the hell it is or why its doing it...any answer will help......maybe i'll start a new forum for this....

no...you just pop it in...like dude said before make sure you're earthed. touch the metal casing- the ram sticks and you. don't mess with the mother board-you could crack it.

Okay, just kiddin'. Manual, page 191, don't get much clearer then that. If it's not on that page in the 2k manual look around in it I'm sure the diagram is in there somewhere. If not then dl the xl manual and look on page 191.

the slots are upside down. you gotta flip over your MP and just unscrew the bottom case, no need to take off the top. make sure you're grounded (earthed) by touching the metal casing and just do your thing. slide the chips in the slots at an angle and you should hear a 'locking' click. it's super easy.

edit: oh yea, and what i do, just to be safe, is take off the NV slider cap and place the upside down MPC on a pillow or my bed to make sure nothing get's f'd up.
