MPC 2000xl MIDI patchbay set up - Can no one help?

I have an MPC 2000 hooked up with a Triton and a Proteus 2000. Set up works great when hooked up directly, however we have recently tried to hook up through an M-Audio Midisport 8x8 and nothing works. Basically what I'm tring to do is to have the same environment as existed with the MPC running everything, but have it be able to work in PTLE recording MIDI so that I can edit the MIDI before recording the audio.
If anyone can give me real answers to this problem that will make my studio work this way PLEASE let me know.

p.s. If this question has already been answered please just point me in the right direction - surely one of you guys knows...

You make sure that your USB is connect on the Midisport.

Then you connect the MPC's midi in and out to the Midisport.

Connect the Triton's midi in and out to the Midisport.

Connect the Proteus' midi in and out to the Midisport.

Depending on which computer platform you use, you design your Midi system. On the Mac it's OMS or AMS depending on which OS you use. In PTLE,you need to sync the MPC to PTLE. You use Midi Beat Clock to control the MPC and you send it from PTLE.

The following is a description from a recent post that I copied....

"Easiest thing to do is hook up a MIDI out from the Digidesign Digi002 to the MPC's in. Enable PT's Beat Clock for that port. Set the MPC to receive MIDI Clock on the port you plug the Digidesign Digi002 in. Put PT online (far left button on transport), press play, and you should be good to go."
