LaCie Hard Drive crashed

LaCie Hard Drive crashed

So my LaCie Hard Drive is facked and im looking for some options or advice.

I had it partitioned so it pops up as two drives on my MacBook Pro. Only one drive shows up, the other cant be restored in Disk Utility. The one with everything on it is obviously that one that cant be restored. Any advice or info would be great. Im not trying to spend $2000 to pull the info off it.

A portion of it is backed up but more most recent work is not. So before you give me the "back up everything speach" Im already knowing.

So the other partition still shows up meaning the hard drive still physically works it's just that one partition is not being read or coming up.

Maybe Power data recovery, I don't know if there's a mac version or not.
maybe you can plug up the drive to a friends pc and do it if you don't have a pc.

I have a pc at work problem is, when I plug it on it doesn't recognize the drive at all.

ahh... well I had an issue similar to that with a lacie external drive as well... it was possible to recover the data using a live cd... it might have been falcon 4 live disk because it has an explorer tool in that which allows you to transfer from the external to another drive.

well first of all, not sure how it works on apple... but it might work fine. who knows.. never tried it.

google search falcon 4 ultimate boot disk... or maybe if that doesn't work on your computer you could look for an ubuntu live cd.

you boot your computer with the disk inserted and the drives plugged in.

I already told you pdr, recognizing the disk, my external drive wasn't recognized either. I still went ahead and did it.

Got everything back, even shit that was formatted over and partitioned ages ago that was long gone, I saw ALL of that!

Plug up the drive, run pdr, go through pdr and recover what you need.
Don't fail before you've even tried Tayo.

I hope it works out for you man cause I KNOW the pain of losing shit.
I also know the joy and relief felt when saving a downed hdd and info contained on it.

Did it recognize it beore all this happen ? Im tryna determine whether dont see LaCie cuz it's formatted in HFS. If it's in HFS, pc wont be able to see it, at least from my own personal experience.

Doesn't have to read to contents. When you plug up the drive does the computer come up with a dialogue along the lines of "do you want to format this drive?" or some shit like that.

In Windows, right click MY COMPUTER
click MANAGE
DISK MANAGEMENT
The bad drives shows up BLACK COLOR TAB, UNPARTITIONED or UNALLOCATED
then proceed on with Power Data Recovery.

These messages mean that windows explorer won't read the contents but the computer physically KNOWS the drive itself is there.

POWER DATA RECOVERY can read HFS and many other hdd formats.

Last time we talked Tayo I don't think it was going to well with your drive.
What's up lately?

You want me to test out another recovery program and let you know the deal or what?

1. There is power to the drive.
2. You don't have a click of death.
3. The physical case/interface the drive is working.
4. Incorrect or corrupt file system on the disk itself.

If those are all true then a recovery program should be able to see the drive and recovery files, I didn't say all the files mind you.

So yeah Lamp. I havent been to successful with the drive. :cry: It doesn't even show up on the recovery program anymore..

There a click sound in the beginning at times then it goes away :(

it never showed the files. it only said it found x amount

if there's other options let me know. I kinda quit for a miknute cause it was just depressing.
