Yeah, I will try my best! I'm in the process of cleaning it. Thought about painting it too, but I don't know... don't want to change it that much. But the original faceplate hase some heavy scratches on it.
Definitely will make some wood sides. Because the original ones are broken. I don't know what the previous owner made with the MPC, but I think it fell down or something. Cause the Side Panels are broken and the left front corner is dented a little bit. But luckily something that can be easily fixed.
And there are a few scratches on the screen...
This Unit has major character! I really would like to know the story of it.

Your back end looks like it has the same layout as the MPC 60.

How come no one saw the rizoli logo on front, it's not only a prototype, it's been customized by the aforementioned too.. If I was you I wouldn't put wooden parts on it, I'd track down the original spares put them on, sell it for a nice price, buy another mpc3k, have lots of change left over for an mpc60.

...I also think it's a good idea as above to get in touch with Roger, maybe he would be interested in buying the prototype from you.. selling the kid back to it's father is the best thing to do actually.

No, I've put the Sticker on it before I even knew it was a prototype (if it really is)... I got the Custom Knobs from Rizoli (by the way, great shop!) But I also have the original ones in case I will sell the MPC, what I doubt, cause I love it!
Yeah I will write him soon. I'm curious about what he has to say about it.
And I don't know if anyone is willing to pay more for a prototype than for a normal one...

I'm not totally sure about your ram issue. Is it an issue with the ram sitting snugly in it's sockets?

I purchased my MCP2K XL used a few years ago, and had a similar problem where it wasn't seeing the ram. I opened it up, and used a safety pin to lightly bend the pins of the socket so that they made firm contact with the ram. I also cleaned them with some contact cleaner. That eliminated all Ram issues.

This is also how you fix the flashing blue screen on old Nintendo systems. NES games are basically just giant ROM cartridges!

disable the NES10 chip and you wont have flashing ever again...

If you buy any parts from Rizoli you get a couple of stickers thrown in, these probably arrived when the OP bought his replacement knobs. I bought some stuff from RR, but wouldn't dream of putting those stickers on my machine. What next, a billboard?

I've spoken with Roger (via email) in the past about the MPC60, It is clear he doesn't appreciate the sheer volume of messages he gets about the 60 and 3000 so many years after the event. He'll let you know this in a polite, diplomatic way.

He never was able to repeat the success of his early products, everything he's created since has been mediocre in comparison...unless you're a guitarist.

Screw it...bug him anyway!

Well it's kind of s*it that he was screwed my akai.. I think he is probably too nice/has an actual human value system ... that makes the business aspect difficult for him..
Anyway I really wish someone would have funded his new linn mpc years ago.... Everyone is screaming out for it... and it would make a happy ending to the story for him to 1up akai.. and then buy them up with his spare change, so they know whos boss again
