spdif not working

does anyone besides me have a issue with the spdif input working on the ren?
the the yellow leds light up but the software doesnt see any audio input coming in.

in the preferences make sure u choose input 3+4....
then...sometimes...if its plugged in and u hear the sound...the meter still doesnt respond...reseating the spdif usually does the trick.

I use my apogee as an a/d...so i sample thru the spdif 90% of the time.

I use the spdif for my proteus on most beats and this happens a lot. Has this been submitted as a bug yet?

1. Ensure the Ren's drivers are installed correctly.

2. The Ren should be selected in the Audio Preference menu as the Input/Output device

3. Select 3 + 4 in the Input list

4. Use a quality digital audio cable (As opposed to a similar looking cable intended for analog audio sources. While you may be able to get away with using this type of cable, I don't recommend it).

5. Ensure you are connecting the SPDIF digital out of your sound module to the SPDIF digital input of the Ren (versus the RCA analog input)

6. Ensure the sample rate/bit depth of the Ren and your sound module matches. The Ren can be set to 16 or 24 bit at various sample rates. If your sound module and the Ren are not set appropriately, you may run into issues.

7. Turn the DIRECT MON knob to Input


8. Set Sample Record Input to 'External'

9. Turn Sample Record Monitor 'On'

I think this pretty much covers everything. Hope this helps.

i have to pull out the cable and put it back in for it to work

but it works so not such a big deal

Wait til you wear out port connection from constant unplugging, your warranty will prolly be up by then

I have a SPDIF issue with my Gemini CDJ700 and the Renaissance (CDJ spdif/ out and Ren spdif/ in). When I hit the play/pause button on it. The Ren software play marker will pause for a sec and continue. Is it normal for that to happen when using SPDIF because its a digital input. I have stopped using SPDIF and started using the RCA's.
