hi all,

does anybody know what is going on with the mpc1000 when the mpc studio is on the market?
will akai and shops sell the mpc 1000 or stops akai the production?

thank you for comments in advance

I would assume that Akai would continue the 1K. The studio and the 1K, they're fundamentally different categories, one's a sampler/sequencer, one's a big fancy MIDI controller essentially.

Sort of like the Kaoss pad 3 when the KP4 came out, they're geared towards different things, so Korg still makes both.

Then again, it's Akai, so I dunno...

I can't find the reference but it's been almost 2 years since a factory has produced a 1000. Everything has been existing stock since then. With how many refurb 5000's they have been trying to sell, I don't think any hardware MPC has been manufactured since shortly after the 2500 discontinuation.

In the big picture as a user I guess it doesn't really matter, it's not like any OS updates were coming from Akai anyway.

where did you read this? or what is the source of your knowledgr? in capitalism it is unusual to produce for storage. in my case 1st i d like to get the ni maschine and after reading and thinking the mpc 1000 would be the better choice.
(i will not start an akai vs. ni thread!)
however i think to get an mpc 1000. this is the reason for the thread start.

I can't even recall, it was sometime in the last two years. Online article I think. It had just mentioned briefly that Akai had a lot of 1000 backstock so they halted further production of more units while keeping the SKU active. The 2500 SKU was disappearing in retailer's systems before Akai even announced it's discontinuing.

So I don't think it was intentional on their part, and it doesn't seem like 1000 sales would all the sudden spike much from where they where two years ago. There's so many used units trading I'm sure they've been making more off MIDI controllers the last few years.

Whether they discontinue it or not the 1000 is a great unit, especially with Fat Pads, at the very least the upgraded pads, and JJOS is available in various incarnations. I would base any purchase decision on do you want a computer based thing like Maschine or Ren or standalone like a 1000 more than whether or not the 1000 is discontinued. With JJOS it's not like you're being left hanging like a 5000 owner.

I dunno about you but imo mpc1k with jjos (2xl) is a super awesome like-no-other sequencer, sampler and fully midi controllable sound module you can take with you.

lovin' it.

truth...the studio is going to be for newer people who like computer based production...there will be a home for the 1000 always though it is a perfect mixture of technical dopness and convienient packaging.. plus stuff like studio needs other parifferalls to work with..thats the beuty of mpc like 1000,2000,2500 you dont need anything but samples lol.

lets be honest ..wether its still in production or not, akai doesnt give a shit after initial sales drop..there attention to support goes as far as what makes them money righ then,

kinda like "hey we love you,buy are new system".."oh ,you bought it already?? well then get ****."
