Need help with mpc 1000 digital out

I get a mpc 1000 + imac with optical mini in and out + m audio c02 coaxial optical converter box.

Have plugged spdif coaxial cables from mpc digital in+out to the m audio converter out+in and the optical cables in+out to the iMac mini digital out+in. Line in and digital out are selected as audio device into mac and daw. The switch on the c02 is set to bidirectional. Im able to sample digital from mac to mpc now, but from the digital out of my mpc i cant get sound to recording into my daw (Ableton Live and Logic). Im able to recording into my daw just with the main outs "jacks" but not digital.

I try the optical in from my imac as analog and it works.

What im doing wrong?

Please would be great to get some help!! i have tried every thing possible, but still get troubles with the digital out of my mpc

inputs and outputs on Imac, are capable of using/sending digital and analog audio

Does the output sample rate and bit rate of the MPC1000 match the same rates on the Macs internal sound card ?
If not, set them to match manually.
Eg, 44.1Khz 16bit

Yes sampling rate on ableton is set by 48000 / 16 bit

Ahh, Abletons audio system might be an issue.
Have you tried it just on the desktop audio, or with another app like Garageband ?

Yes tried with logic and garageband, same results as with ableton.

Just try the OUT from the MPC1000 to the in on the C02, then the optical out on the C02 to the Mac.
Try both coax>opt & bi-directional.

Was this ever resolved? I'm trying to connect my mpc digital out to a yamaha aw4416 in, but the yamaha is reporting a digital input sync error. The yamaha out to the mpc works ok, so I think there is something up with the mpc digital out..

I notice that the mpc manages to transmit sound but its digitally scratchy and corrupt. It sometimes gets better (but not correct) if I remove the cable from the mixer out to the mpc in..

Sometimes there is no sound from the mpc. Sometimes its pitched wrong. Feels like the mpc clock might be erratic, and the behaviour of the out definitely changes if I disconnect and reconnect the in...
