Which monitor headphones do you all use?

I'm not talking Ipod earphones here.

Which monitor headphones do you all use in your studios?

My old Sennheisers just broke so am looking at possibly getting either of these:


Audio-Technica ATH-M50 Studio Monitor Headphones
OR
Sennheiser HD 280 Pro - headphones

I use the ath-m50 and the beyerdynamic Dt880's. the M50's are closed back, which give better noise isolation. Great frequency response for closed backs, ideal for tracking or ripping samples. They are also offered with a straight cable, which is awesome too.

I use the semi-open backed dt880's for mixing, as they have a really accurate sound and are super comfortable for long sessions. My favorite headphones, but I have noisy kids, and they don't isolate as well as the m50's.

Not really a fan of the HD280's, but the HD600's are another story, lol.

Been using the Sennheiser HD650's for years now. A lot of headphones I've checked out since just sound harsh in the midrange to me, whereas the 650's are smooth across the whole spectrum. :nod:

I got the hd280 pro, while they're decent pair and flat, they really lack low end...I borrowed set of A.T and my jaw dropped what I was hearing...they basically matched the sound of my event monitors all across, including bass n feel more comfortable

i use mud by dre, sony v6, sony dj headphone and technic rp1200 headphones all for reference.

having 4 pairs at arms reach is great for mixing imo

+1 for the m50s. They're amazing, especially for only like $150.

They've got really clean bass and good mids, and the highs are really well-defined and crisp, but never get tiring on the ears. Physically comfortable, too.

definitely. enjoy them.
They sound good out of the box, but they just get better when you burn them in. You could do what some people do, put some pink noise thru them for a while, but I'd suggest just listening to lots of stuff and making beats, they'll burn in eventually.
