Strange artifacts added to saved samples in various projects

Ive been out of commission for quite some time due to starting a family and finally just recently decided to fire up the MP and preview some older beats saved on my card. To my surprise, a small majority of my samples have been corrupted some how...corrupted as in there is new audio information that has been added to my existing samples which I did NOT personally add. The files actually load like normal, theres no error there...but they are clearly damaged. The best way I can describe the sound is "a high frequency crackling/static sound" has been some how added to the original samples. Even stranger, its only effected some of my samples in a project, but not all of them. One things for sure though, the damage appears to be permanent. If i go into TRIM mode and view the damaged file, I can actually see the transient spikes that have been added to my audio files. Very strange.

Has anyone else encountered this problem before?
Is it my CF Card?
My RAM?

(I will attempt to add some visual and audio examples later this evening to help further clarify my situation)

That really sucks.

But if the transients are visible when you view the files I dont see how your RAM could be responsible for that. More likely that the CF card was somehow corrupted due to environmental conditions.

Backing up critical files is the only way to go, but that's no consolation...
