So how many of you ACTUALLY dig?

I just sold my record collection (except 6 crates) because I needed the space. At one point, I had about 100 crates. Had to move them from 3 different houses in the last 10 years and finally had enough. My itunes collection is killing what I had in records. The only records I kept were my James Brown collection, the weird electronic bleeps and blobs stuff, my breakbeats, and records that I just really enjoy. From now on I will only buy hard to find records. All that "destined for the dollar bin" crap can be downloaded for free.

I'm with OP on that one, mp3 doesn't really count as digging to me if you can just type in whatever you're looking for. Half the fun is picking something up you never heard before bc the cover looks crazy or you know the label and being surprised. or being on the lookout for that one record for months/years at a time and then finally stumbling on it.

no use in buying the same records everyone else has to use the same ol tired samples. I might go crazy if i lived somewhere where there was only one spot, i get the crazy urge to dig a few times a month. but I'm also lucky enough to live in brooklyn where there's about 10 stores in my neighborhood alone. The THING may take the cake for true 'digging' spot though you sometimes need a face mask and 5 hours to kill

I still dig but there are no shops to dig on this island. All I have to go is this antique shop in the city runned by an old couple. They hide new stuff in the back for me all the time. They're very cool because I'm knowledgable on the stuff they sell so we have conversations on Henry IV furniture while I sift through their crates. Other than that, I cop at Amazon, ebay, and gemm. I got other places too, but in on the down low.

which is a record day in penticton,BC..... where its a vinyl day to support there radio station.... bout 60 vendors deep & sum... sept.30 is thee day...
thank good for my 7000+ collection... kids take up most of me dollars, but will still make the time to spend at least $250 a month to add on.... at 35 yrs old, vinyl will always play a role in my life...

I am guilty of E-Digging. I've spent years digging for breaks and those obscure samples. In my older years (44) I find it easier to just E-Dig. I honestly believe it is not how you dig but what you are able to do with your finds. At the end of the day, it's all about doing what you like.

I haven't been to a record shop in years. I did luck up on a whole collection though for $500. Close to 2000 records, a lot of them I would have never bought otherwise.

i make it a point to go digging at least a few times a year,but i dont see whats up with all the e-digging hate, sample whatever you want, if it sounds good then thats dope. its more about what you make of it than where you get it.

I don't like e-digging because the sound is tinted and tainted from whatever it came from. Vinyl, wav, aflac and CD is the raw deal. Only through me is when the sound is tinted and tainted. But downloading someone else's dig, you'll have to eat up whatever converters or equipment they used to put it up.

MP3's for sampling sucks major cock, king-sized.

although i have not the money or the patience to support this habit that i once did...

i still be comin up at the thrift spots of course...

i really have to unload some of the junk ive aqquired in my crates over the years though...

also, digging is much deeper than records/music to me...
