DAWs like Pro Tools provide an easy way to route audio directly into plugin instruments. So if you have a plugin that can record audio, click the input tab and choose between all the available inputs.

I see what mean but besides Ren and maschine what other plugins record audio? A lot of the synths plugin don't.

There is a very good reason why Pro Tools, Studio One...and I want to say Cubase as well can quickly route audio to plugins. Plugins that actually sample such as BPM and Geist or VA Synth VSTs that you can route audio through benefit greatly from DAWs that have this functionality.

I seen you are talking about sampling drum machines cool. But couldn`t I just record an audio track in my DAW and drag/import my sample into Ren to chop it up if we are talking about inputs now? I mean that how I work with EXS, Ultrabeat, Kontakt and so on. Honestly the DAW isn`t going to conform to a plugin. But it is up to the user to choose the right DAW for himself. I`m a long term logic user moving over from the Pro Tools when i first started. Other DAWs may work for others, but for me logic midi and arranging it on first tier for composing and mixing. But I get what you are saying.

Not just sampling drum machines but routing audio to VA Synths as well.

Logic doesn't have inputs for instrument tracks. So the only way to get audio into the Ren is to point the Ren's file browser to the recording destination of Logic...then drag-n-drop from the Ren's file browser. You can't drag audio from Logic into the Ren.

Logic doesn't need to conform to a specific plugin but Apple should continue to improve it so it can match what other leading DAWs can do in this regard. But I am certainly a novice when it comes to these DAWs. I wouldn't be going anywhere near a DAW if it weren't for the Ren.

You can drag any audio in the audio bin to other instruments. Click on the audio track itself and use add to audio bin. From there you can do as you wish. Most DAWs operate this way as standard. I work the same with Ableton does too. Gotta dive more into your DAW of choice. :smoker:

Oh...I thought you meant dragging audio from a track directly into the Ren. Dragging and dropping from Logic's bin is the same thing as I described earlier. I was just pointing the Ren's browser directly to Logic's bin.

But I noticed something odd and it applies to Maschine as well. When using Plugin as an input for an audio track, why is the first stereo channel of the plugin missing? I looked on You Tube and there were some reports of the something.

I don't know why they do it like that. But the outputs aren't missing. They just come directly from the plugin instance track for some reason. So basically, in Pro Tools, you'd route the output of the actual Instrument track to your first audio track. That takes care of channels 1+2. All the other tracks you set the outputs through the actual plugin method I mentioned above. At 5:03 in this video I posted a while ago, you can kinda get a glimpse of the routing setup. Gotta watch in full screen and probably pause it to see it clearly!

If used as a plugin, can the software send output on multiple channels? Similar to how multi instruments are used in Logic. In other words, if I have a ren song with 8 tracks, can I send all 8 ren tracks to 8 tracks in the daw? And control the levels of the ren tracks from the faders in the daw? And apply audio effects to each track in the daw?

Or will it only allow the ren to output to one stereo instrument track in the daw, therefore having to mix the track in the ren software?

If it doesn't allow multiple output, I'm not really understaMPC 5000outputs
nding why you would need to load the ren as a plugin.

1. Launch Logic
2. Create Instrument Track on Track 1
3. Add MPC multi-channel plugin (8 stereo outs)
4. Within Logic, create 7 aux tracks by clicking + sign on the channel strip of Track 1
5. In MPC Ren's Program Mix Mode, route sounds to 8 stereo pairs of outputs.

Note - As of OS 1.0, only the Program Mixer has outputs.

Hi Im sorry to bump this tread but I would like to know how to do this within Cubase..

Found it.. Just go to instruments or hit F11, find your MPC software and select activate outputs and choose the outputs you need..

But I still need to know how to assign the outputs to individual tracks..

Edit: You don't have to assign them to individual tracks. just go to your MPC track and click on the + sign to expand the track. Once you do that you'll see all the MPC outputs.

Missing Separate Audio Output option in MPC 1.9 via DP8 ( digital Performer )
- This should be Simple, I Need Help!!
(couldn't get any help in other forums, hope someone here, knows what I'm talking about.

PLEASE READ MY POST, BEFORE REPLYING, BECAUSE I MAY HAVE ALREADY DONE WHAT YOU SUGGEST.

I am using Digital Performer 8.07 in 64 bit mode
and Akai Renaissance ver. 9
(I think, because I can not confirm the version when I use rena as a plug-in, but in stand-alone mode it's ver 9).

My Issue,...
I want to use the Rena Drums on separate outputs via my MOTU 24 i/o Audio interface,
and my Rena Plug-in's sounds on another separate output via the same MOTU 24 i/o Audio interface.
This is suppose to be "Baby-like" Simple, as just selecting the output routing in the Rena Mixer.
All I see for choices are:
Program
Submix 1-8
and out 1-2 thru 31-32
When I select Program or Out 1-2, all sound goes fine, through my host (Digital Performer 8)
But when I select any other out (3-4, 5-6,....) I get no sound, I don't even get visual levels on my Audio interface)

Also DP or AKAI will only let me select (1) instance at a time, so multi tracking seems out the question.

All I wan to do is put Drums on any choice audio output and the synth plug-in's on any other track.

In stand alone mode all works as should.
BUT, in host mode, in the preferences, I do not get the "AUDIO" TAB, it just starts with "MIDI (see my screen shot)
I have a few work arounds, but I am very particular when it comes to things like this, and have a hard time moving on
when things don't go as expected.

Thanks
