Please help a motivated noob

Hey all!

Ive just received a mpc2000xl and it came with a cd drive. My issue is im trying to

load some sounds onto it and get things moving but im running into problems. There

is a switch in the back of the drive that i have on, my scsi drive is set to 5 and i used

the sample sounds on mpc-tutor and burned them with my macbook pro onto a cd.

Am i doing something wrong because it cant read any of the files i have on the cd, and

when i try to format it, it just freezes on me with a bunch of code popping up. If

anyone can steer me in the right direction it would greatly be appreciated!!!

Can someone just tell me what im doing wrong?


I downloaded the sample beats from mpc tutor, burned it to a cd-R inserted it into

my SCSI drive, it has been set to 5, and when i try and see the files its blank, and

next to Type there is question marks

make sure your using the right file format for the samples.

Also, could it be that when i first burned it i clicked burn audio instead of data onto to the cd? would that be a reason why it doesnt read?

My advice would be to try and sample some sounds into the machine, and save them on a floppy disc. This will allow you to become familiar with the machine.

Deal with the CD Rom issue once you've got a handle on the basics of sampling, saving and sequencing.
