I practice my guitar mostly through a Vox Tonelab to headphones or my amp. I can keep it quiet that way, and enjoy a variety of amp and cabinet sounds.

I recently started looking at drum machines and synths to add a bit more to the mix, rythm and enjoyment... ended up purchasing an Akai MPC 1000.

My thought is: guitar to > Tonelab to > MPC 1000 to > headset or amp.

Given the stated equipment, what hookup would you recommend? MIDI in & out between the Tonelab and MPC? Would that allow recording and playthrough?

The amp is a Peavey XXX tube amp with Effects Send & Return... although without the MPC in the loop: the guitar is plugged into the Tonelab, headset plugged into the Tonelab, and the L/mono out of the Tonelab to the Input of the amp.

That setup works fine... just need a working hookup including the MPC. Thanks

Tonelab main out -> MPC rec in. Listen from master out or headphones.
No MIDI required.
You should set audio input thru "ON"
