is my 60 screen dying??

i noticed today the contrast knob on my 60II has to be turned on at 80% minimum to see the text, normally i could see text at 10 o clock, 1PM being the perfect setting... power cycling the MP gets it behaving normally but soon enough it goes down again. i just changed the backlight last week, is the actual screen display dying on me now???

maybe the knob needs to be cleaned with some contact spray? Did you replace the backlight with one of those ones from ebay that dont require soldering? if so, what is your opinion on those? I was thinking of getting one for my 60ii... it just isn't really a necessity so I haven't been motivated to bother with it...

hmm.. i guess i could give it a try, how would i go about spraying the knob? does the cap come off, should i dismount from the inside??

concerning the backlight, yes i got the no solder off ebay uk.. installation couldn't be easier, as far as the quality well i have no other 60II experience to compare it with, it's not really that bright compared to any other "modern" display obviously but during the day it doesn't make any kind of impact, in a dim atmosphere however well it works. from videos i've seen the 60 mk1 screen looks a lot brighter. i think the 60II uses the same as the 3000 which aren't renown for the quality of their screens i think..

I was going to say if it was a backlight that req. soldering that you prob killed it... I did this myself by not using a coin as a heatsink when soldering connectors onto a backlight for a rack akai.... Anyway i'd take a pic of the display send it to the backlight seller, he'll send you a new one.. of course it's possible that the inverter is dying... or as above..the pot itself.. backlight seller should help diagnose the issue.

Don't forget to update the thead incase someone else has the same prob.

no doubt i already wrote to him but honestly it doesn't look like the backlight is faulty, but the screen itself as i don't think the contrast knob influences the backlight? what i did do that felt kind of sketchy was i left the old backlight in there as it was glued to the display, it's just unplugged but the backlight instructions said it was fine to leave the old one in there..

for cleanig the knob, you gotta remove the cap... and the cleaner comes in a spray can usually... so you can squirt some on the post of the knob while turning it...
