First, the dude who had an amazing collection and always had new stuff for me relocated from a flea market literally a block away to his own store about 40 minutes away. In addition, I just have too many records... and I just can't get myself to get rid of them. Don't get me wrong, I don't say that to boast. I just don't have the room. I kind of feel like one of those old ladies on hoarders. I try to go through and make a pile of stuff I can get rid of, but there's only a few in the discard pile. Then I go through that pile again and cut it in half. I finally got around to trying to get all my records in crates, and that just made shitt worse. Didn't account for the space the crates would take up... Once in a while I'll get a few off of ebay that I want just to listen to, or someone will give me a small pile... I need one of those shrinks over my shoulder to ask: Are you realy ever going to sample or even listen to My Fair Lady? Put it in the pile.
I really know what you talkin about. My music room is filled with expedits full of records, records in every corner and under the desk. But I have a problem selling some of them cause it COULD be the record with a sample that fits to the next track. And to make things even worse I cant stop to stop at the thrift shop or the next flea market and buy a few 50 cent or euro bin records (thats something between 10 and 30 records per month).
The best moments (when I bought an unknown record with great songs and samples for cheap) are the moments you'll always remember and you want that special moment again and again. Pure Addiction IMO.
