F-ROM data error !!

bought a used flash rom and installed it a week ago.loaded the os onto it and a program file wich worked fine and got loaded every time I put the 2000 on....til today.
I erased the program and sound files from the flash rom and till then it says every time I start it :

F-ROM data error !!

any ideas ?

reformat???

not possible.can`t go beyond that screen....

boot off floppy....then reformat......?

booting off the zip drive as I always did,didn`t work.
today I wanted to boot from my floppy and it does not seem to work anymore
seems like I`ll have to install a new floppy before I can use my mpc again.
that`s bad `cause I bought the flash rom to get rid of booting from zip or floppy......

changed the floppy drive and booted my 2000 from it.when I try to get acess to the flash rom there`s always the same window showing:f-rom data error..........
no deleting or loading from it is possible.changed the id switches,took it out and put it back in.loading the os to the rom is possible but it won`t load.
any ideas?

That's why Flash Rom is a waste of money and time. I would say that Flash Rom got damaged if it's not recognized unless you are not making sure every connection is perfectly seated to the board.

it worked fine till I deleted some sounds....

I had this problem with a MUTEC FMC-01 inside my MPC2k, too. The MUTEC support told me that reformatting the FlashROM with an S3000XL sampler could work, because this sampler uses an other formatting method.

In my case it did the trick: the FlashROM works again!

they told me also, hadn`t had the chance to try this. in my second 2k it`s been working fine since i put it in...

Whats the beef with booting off the disk? I kind of like that fresh feeling on every startup. Sorry that your locked out of your classic temporarily, get well soon.

it`s not only booting, you can store some default programs with sounds and a sequence...

I still don't get it, I put a template program in my boot disk press a button and done. I'm not hating on your descision to put in flash rom, Ive just never desired it. Just seeing if you knew something I didn't. Carry on

Is this commonplace? Having a problem with your flashrom? I take what I said back, if I felt like this was safe I would enjoy having the OS on a flashrom instead of a boot disc. How many people out there have done this and had success?

Edit: Fckkkkk that ish, I just looked up the fmx-008 and as far as I can see I couldn't buy it without paying double what I did for MPC... I would never get that sort of value from it. I hope you got yours for cheap man..
