i've been desperately trying to build kits and transfer them to my 60II with 3.10, but i'm getting strange errors with the floppies on the MP.. i've tried using mpcpgmaker on mac and mpc editor on pc, i chose 3000 pgm format and wav to snd conversion in the options. with mpcpgmaker when i try and load the files i get "this file is internally corrupted and can't be loaded etc etc"? with mpc editor the floppy appears empty?? both disks were formatted inside the 60.. i'm using a usb floppy drive with my computers to transfer.. any clue what's the problem here?

Are you using double density floppies? If you're using high density floppies you're likely to get that message. You can work around that by putting tape over the holes in a hd floppy and format it in the mpc. It may still corrupt eventually though.

uuughh i specifically bought the usb floppy drive for this purpose.. i'm using HD floppies btw, with the tape over the hole and formatted inside the 60..

fwiw the buggy floppies didn't work in the 2000xl either, but a regular dos formatted HD floppy worked in the 2K so the USB floppy does work with the editors, so could it be DD floppies aren't supported on my usb floppy drive causing the corruption?

MPC Editor has been discontinued, apart from the free version that has no format function. :( :(

I think Mike got fed up with people complaining that they accidentally tried to format their system drive with it (yeah I know it sounds stupid but I did it myself) and rather than rewrite the app he just removed the format function.

If anyone has a serial that they paid for and needs to re-install the original program, I have it somewhere. Hope that's ok with Mr Goins.

That's the thing with these third-party applications and operating systems. You really need to get them while they are readily available, if of course you need it at the time.

Latecomers are just left searching for the holy grail.

First Mike Goins, then Rohan Mansell, then Roger Linn (did a U-turn), who's next???

Better get your MPC60's the 3.10 OS before Roger changes his mind again lol.

i know exactly what you mean... i was always sketched out every time i used that function... LOL...

hopefully there is an available version with the format function intact somewhere for those that paid for it already...

imo a well worded and appropriately emphasized disclaimer on the purchase page or read me text would be better than "nerfing" the whole program to "protect" certain people from the capabilities of the program... :? :x
