Whatever you want to call it that makes you happy Jah. The REN aka sampling drum music production workstation isn`t a digital audio sequencer workstation yet. 8)

That is funny. As when I turn it own...the software is obviously digital. It records and edits digital audio. It has a built-in digital sampler (drum machine and key group), includes digital plugin instruments/effects, and can sequencing all of them to also include external MIDI hardware or software instruments.

If that isn't a digital audio sequencer workstation...it is doing a helluva job pretending to be one.

The Ren is and always will be a Music Production System....only a hand full of products in the same category. Once Akai adds audio tracks....there won't be any good arguments for you not to call it a DAW.

What is wrong with you guy! I`m trying to give some help and tips for those with all the questions on how to use there setup and now you are running over here with your frustration. Just because dude clearly clarified what the difference between 32bit and 64bit you got to be starting something. This thread is mostly aimed at newbies and first timers to computer based studios. Chill out son.

Ren is a sampler but we all know that so don`t come at me with some off the cuff remark when you know it isn`t a audio multracker with non destructive audio tracks with audio regions. You know i`m not talking about samples come on.

All sampling drum machines which is what Ren is uses midi tracks not audio tracks.

All of the side chaining, software instrument layering, subgroup audio routing, 64bit functions, arranging in one window and mastering can be done in their current DAW most already own in the signatures easily. My post is to state that you use the Ren as it was intended making beats and layering your samples to route into your software mixer as part of your project, session or whatever you call it.

When the day comes which isn`t yet mind you that you can use REn just by itself with everything I meant before without a fancy names yes I will close down my daws too. As of most I will use it in my DAW as I use all of my other instruments as a part of my ensemble. I can`t make it do something it doesn`t have yet no matter how much I wish for it, someone claims is coming in a update, or what no other mpc or drum machine has done me before.

I say make beats and mix in your daw you have now. No hype.

Blue Haze...you are tripping. I just took the words directly off of my MPC 3000 and added the terminology Akai is using on their website. This has nothing do to with a troll that can't wrap his head around how to navigate a 32 bit operating system and 32 bit software application......

In this thread, you labeled the Ren as a drum machine which it far exceeds those capabilities. Then you try to contrast it with a DAW. The only major difference is audio tracks. Add audio tracks, then the Ren becomes a DAW as seen in Logic, Pro Tools, Cubase, Reason, FL Studio, Studio One, Digital Performer, Sonar, etc.

Now if this offends you...just say so and I will delete every single thing I posted in this thread...minus the fact that the Ren isn't a drum machine.

If you don`t mind excusing yourself yes I would be able to go on.

This is example of a user using Ableton live arranger page aka (DAW) audio tracks with recordings he brought in and chopped up and arranging. Mind you he isn`t using midi track with sampler. He is using only audio and arranging it on the arrange page on separate tracks each that you can do as he pleases. Audio sequencing is not the same as midi sequencing though they are very similar. Even though most of us including myself came up on the premier midi sequencer MPC since moving over to software studio working with audio sequencing and processing a ton of possibilities opened up.

If you added audio tracks to a toaster it would technically be a daw, audio tracks ARE what makes a DAW a DAW. So I could just as easily say the difference between a daw and my coffee table is audio tracks...

Remember I'm being civil here... Not looking for a battle.

mpc 2500 cost just as much as coffee table and you can put it on your coffe table since it's standalone and it has audio tracks :smoker:
