can we get a side shot of the screen? it's hard to tell from the photos what the angle is. all of the pictures look different. in some of them, the screen looks pretty flat, in others it looks like it's raised up pretty high.

also, none of the videos on this page ( http://www.mpcstuff.com/1000xlcd.html ) load for me. can you put them on youtube?

haha, that does look kind of funny on the 1000... but still, I guess besides designing a whole new case it is the only way (and cheaper) .. good job.

answering some XLCD questions i got in PM:

did they bring back destructive chop jjos2xl style to the xlcd, or are they still working on that?

i hope they are still working on it. we absolutely need destructive chop. nondestructive chop is good for one type of workflow, but it does not cover all of the needs of those of us who destructively chop.

missing program pad mode trim: does this mean in xlcd, when you go into trim mode, you cant scroll through everything on every pad like you can in 2xl?

PGM TRIM allows you to move through TRIM by hitting pads and having the respective sample appear, with all GPE parameters in full effect. XLCD does not have PGM TRIM yet - it is one of three functions that i would love to recover.

missing grid edit audio: if you cant change to an audio track in grid edit, where can you see the audio tracks? can you change a track on the main screen to audio and see the waveforms there?

from the main screen, yes.

hold of a note repeat pad: is there really no note repeat or did i read this wrong? imo this feature would be a great one to have.

this feature is implemented in a different way with the pad playback types/modes. it's more granular and powerful now.

bars loop: in 2xl say you have a 4 bar sequence, it shows this in the top right corner, then there is a place next to that that you can choose which bars you want to loop while your sequence is playing. does xlcd just not have that feature at all?
this is something i use in my workflow alot, it would be awesome if xlcd could do this.

yes, this is missing, and yes, it would/will be awesome when xlcd recovers this functionality.

equalizer high and equalizer low (high and low filters): does this mean that xlcd doesnt have hpf and lpf?

nah, xlcd has all of the filters, just no high/low EQ option in the filter list. no big loss IMO, i never used em.

thanks for the info nym.

a couple more clairificatins though:

in xlcd in trim mode, can you still highlight the sample name and then move the data wheel and scroll through all of them that way?

and also, note repeat: you cant just hold down the note repeat button? is it a more involved process than it is on 2xl?
you say its more granular, do you mean it can get wayyyy samller in xlcd then?
would you say the new note repeat type thing is as user friendly and useful as the one in all the other mpcs?

also, if you are still beta testing, i think you should stress the need for bars loop. im sure a lot of us use this feature, i know i do every time i power up the machine.

thanks!

scroll through all the samples in trim? yes.
note repeat - yes you can physically hold the button, but you cannot "lock" the hold with shift like you can in 2xl because other features take this role.

regarding granularity, certain pads can be set to repeat at different rates, or step through playback of different pads, etc. far far more functional than tc hold.
more later.

Yeah, I was giddy too when I noticed that fooling with JJXL one night. So many 4k amenities have been added to JJXL, you gotta love it. Actually the more I use the 4k again the more I want a gigantor screen on my 2500.
