Making a reverb out of noise?

But if a sound need reverb you can always use a real room, corridor or a cardboard box or whatever. Play any sound and create any reverb that you want. Record this with a microphone and use it however you want. For example cut away or fade in the attack so you only get the reverb tail. Or use a short noise impulse to get an impulseresponse from the room (thats a "fingerprint" of the room and you can render it into any audio by using IR reverb plugins. You're not fixed on a white noise impulse to get this fingerprint you can use the "special" noise of a vinyl (hiss and rumble) for this method too.
Goldbaby upped some impulse response from a MPC60 and although this wont give you a representation of 12bit or the special lofi sound it sounded nice IMO.

My bad I should have typed out what I meant. I said ghost snare, but I meant the digital snare + ghost snare trick. Where you lay a speaker on top of a snare play a snare sample through the speaker in turn giving you a ghost hit from the real drum, record the results. Then you have a new snare with more harmonics and tail.
