i guess i lucked the f out, fully maxed 60 mkII with custom matte black design. seller was a film student and didn't have a clue about options or nothing, he needed loot to go on summer break and had it laying around so i got it for a bargain. only needed a backlight replacement... anyways i love this MP, the layout is i think the best of all designs.. after only 2 months going back to my 2000XL i've been using for 12 years seems awkward.. i also played with a 3K recently but still prefer the 60's transport..

It's ok to talk money here  , how much for your maxed 60 mkII?

Still waiting to scope some proper pics of that custom job in the 'Post your 3000/60' thread when you have time.

don't some people prefer the looser swing of the earlier OS - or is that internet BS?

The earlier OS could be described as 'crippleware' compared to 3.10, but those who are stuck with it probably have no choice but to like it. I've not heard of anyone choosing an earlier OS over 3.10...

I've had 2.02, 2.12, 2.67 (enables SCSI), 3.02 (enables SCSI), 3.10 (enables SCSI). Anything below 3.0 is severely restricted but you can still work with it.

Corrected for you.

When you do, put them in the "Post your 3000/60" thread, not here.

So did you pay more than $600-$700?

I dont like the old os... I just dont hate it. It works, I guess is the best way to describe it. Do you know if projects saved on 2.12 are loadable on the later ones like 3.02 or 3.1?

They should be, although I haven't tried it myself.

Yes, you can load 2.12 etc on 3.10. It converts the audio file format etc, but doesn't change the sound.
3.10 also changes the way the mpc saves to disk.
Instead of saving it all as one file, it saves all sequences, and programs and sounds are saved separately.

Other major bonuses include - mono/note off mode, samples are not unique to pads, sample longer than 5 seconds at a time, and when you sample, your sequences don't get erased!!!!

Also, supposedly, the update has more features etc, so supposedly the machine has to work harder to keep up, (more processing power) so technically the machine gets a bit looser.

very important feature...

im wondering if it could be accomplished through the outputs on earlier OS versions... :hmmm:
