whats up y'all . after years of using the 60II before it died on me. I was trying to decide on either coppin another 60 or a mpc ren instead i went with maschine since the mpc ren was taking for ever to drop and after a few months of messing with maschine to me it just ain't got that phat sound like the 60 or 3000 has. I even tried to midi a s950 to my machine setup which did give some really good results . but i just like ease of making beats in the 60 i recently got an offer to trade maschine for a mpc 60 with 3.10os installed . only thing is the it has only one working midi port does any know if this is an easy fix or should i pass on the trade. im mainly gonna build my tracks in the 60 than record to logic and lay down my keys or live bass in logic.

I have no experience with the 60 as far as owning or repairing one. But parts do appear to be scarce. Perhaps a broken parts unit to cannibalize would be something to look into.

With Maschine mkII out what's a used mkI package really worth used? Seems $300 or so would be the neighborhood. MPC 60 needing some repair but sounds reasonably functional (I'm hoping you would have at least one working set of MIDI I/O).

Did you keep the s950? There's always the option of copping a 2000/XL as long as the screens good. I paid $400 for a minty XL last year, so even if you sold Maschine for cash you would still likely get near enough to go for a 2000 or XL. I'm only suggesting this as you have the gritty sample engine if you kept the s950.

Hopefully others can provide info on potentially repairing that 60.

As far as replacing the midi ports goes, your best best is to look out for a donor machine or get someone like Bruce Forat to have a look at it. Off the shelf parts for an MPC60 are virtually non-existent at this point as you probably know.

With a decent midi patchbay/ thru-box, one midi output is all you need, but as you don't plan on sequencing hardware synths route that single midi output into the Mac or the S-950 and you're good.

Having just one midi output on the 60 is not a deal breaker.
