Converting from MPC3000 to PC (Sound Changes, How to change

Hi,

I'm a beatmaker and make hiphop beats on my MPC3000LE. I have been using this machine since a year and currently I'm extremely happy with it. I have a question about the sound of the MPC and how to convert tracks without losing that sound.

When I make beats I program my drums so they sound really raw and like to use a swing. When I convert my beats into my PC, I don't really know how to say this but it sounds more clean. The drums still sound good to me but it's not nearly as good as when I hear the sound on my MPC. I convert it by playing it on the MPC and using the mixer and then record it into Audiacity. Is there a way to capture the same sound on the PC. Maybe I'm not being very clear but I can't really say it any better.

What you're experiencing is one of the reasons some people don't track out..
Your mpc will sum the sounds differently to your pc.
Also, if you're listening to the mpc though the main outs...and then track out via the individual outputs.. that's also a different sound... mpc main outs sound better than the individual outs..

Do you find the swing is lost too...try to explain your process in more detail so we can offer more advice.

The swing is still there, but it's really the sound of the swing that bothers me. It sounds more clean on my PC. I don't really know how to describe it very well, but the drums seem harder and more gritty on my MPC, when I convert it, they still sound gritty but not as much as before. The drums also sound slightly more detailed but I still notice it and it gets me irritated. Very little difference and I never got bothered by it until I got more experienced and got better with programming.

Is it possible to get the exact same track into the PC without losing that 'sound'? Again sorry for not being very clear.


This beat is from a friend, he has the exaxt same problem. The hi-hats were too loud when they were recorded but other then that, the snare has more power on the MPC.
