lately i work on one song and that takes me a while cuase i am avery picky person about how my music sounds,

but some times i can make three rough drafts in one sitting it depends on my insparation,if my wife is being a dream killer than i can put out a few tracks in a day but if i ahve to much sh!t going on in my life than i get stuck on one track for a few weeks.

3-8 throwaway practice seqs. and 1-3 keepers w/ variations a week.

I just saw the new issue of Scratch magazine where Scram Jones ( Tragedy khadafi, TerrorSquad) said he makes 17-20 Tracks a day,WOW!(Yeah-Right!)

Not as much as I should be. I have very little records so I'm limited right now but I'm making pretty good stuff with what I have. I just haven't bought much vinyl.

usally 1 or 2 a day at least. today i did a few though. i think like 4

I used to make 3 or 4 beats a time, but that was two years ago now im alot more selective about the sounds i use and im more honest with myself about the quality of a beat.

now i just make beats ad hoc when i feel like it but i tend to spend more time diggin, listening and sampling lil bits.

no joke, i'm still working on some beats that i started months ago, just changing stuff around, experimenting with the eqing and mixing etc....

i'll usually start off by **** about with a few different samples then by the time i've got the beat together it'll be completely different samples i'm using...

but for an average day i'll make at the most 2-3 beats, i'm very critical and like i say i keep working on stuff for long amounts of time...

but reading that madlib interview has made me think differently i guess, i mean he says he'll do like an album per week, like dozens of songs a day ... crazzzy, but hottt

i can make tons of beats a day... but what's the point?? to chooze from 400 every week???

i would better make one super quality one... and i don't care how much time i would spend on it... cutting samples from vinyl its nothing... and using drums from libaries... better spend the whole day for snare and kick drum to make something new... than talking like i made 600 tracks today and i want 10 bucks for them and i'm selling it for those i hate...

in my opinion...

I make at least 3 new beats a day.Even if they never get heard it's cool because practice makes perfect.That's all it really is.Practice.

Quality over quantity for me. I'll be happy with one 8 bar seq every week.

It depends on how many beers i consume, more beer more tracks more creativity the more you hit the wrong pad but it sounds tite. yeah sumptin like that, i hope this helps.

see to me music is just a moment in time. its like just ur mood and ur vibe for that particular day and hour. I feel that if u come back to a beat later u lose the vibe. Sometimes u go back to it and its a good result but i try to get it out and done in a few hours. I dont like to go back to tracks unless i sell them. But as dude was sayin practice makes perfect. If u have no other commitments then 3 or 4 a day is no prob. If ur plannin on producing for a living though u need to produce. That means at least one a day.

To me its not even about how many beats i can make a day. I dont say i make 10 beats a day cause now every day i make beats in the back of my head im thinking about reaching that golden number as much as im thinking about making a good beat and sooner or later as the day go by your gona think more about that golden number more than making a hot beat. When some body ask me how many beats i can make a day i just say i make as much as i need to supply the demand for my tracks. Its funny when people say they can make 10 beats a day and have never sold a beat yet. That just means you have a lot of un use music. I do the math and i know i can make a track in half n hour to hour but once i start twinking little things it will be a lot longer but once i drop the chord progression in the first five minutes my track is pretty much done and i just need to fill in the blanks around it but i take my time with my tracks. I dont treat them like im making action toys for Toys R us and try to spit them out as much as possible. Ill say i make about 3 to 4 beats a day but im also recording 2 to 3 songs that same day so thats really the difference!
