Yo Elmacaco, got a question

so, in all honesty, do you think I should pick one up?

yeah man, it sounds great and nothing sounds like it really.

the editing isn't to easy, but checking the manual will make stuff clear to you.

The only thing I think comes close is the Novation K station, but those are more expensive, and while it sounds great, the microkorg just has a dominating sound.

so by using the vocoder you can, lets say, hum a bass tune and play it on the key thru the sounds in the board??? Am I making sense here?

kinda, you really need to play one to really get it, but if you hum a bass tune as the modulator, the pitch will not follow, the pitch is from the synth (carrier) if you say wow into the mic the pitch will be what you play on the keys, but the sound will have the wow sound added to it with filters and amplitude (you won't hear a sound unless you speak into the mic).

I don't think the micro lets you plug in a carrier different from the synth, so you can't hum pitches in, but in a different vocoder you can hum a tune in the carrier input and have the sounds of the modulator (synth, drum loop, whatever) modify your voice.

Basically your voice controls the filters and the volume. So if you slowly increace the volume of your voice while holding down some keys, the keys will follow the volume curve of your voice.

THEY GO for around $400 new. I am at school now, I am so close to going to guitar center on the way home.

get a used korg ms2000r instead for real

its the same synth in a rackmount/tabletop. same price, you can control it with your w30, and it has way more knobs and way better control.. fareal!

Sorry, but that's simply not the case. The MS2000 is not the same as the microKorg. The micro Korg is based on Korg's Oasys technology, which is used in the triton Karma and other products. The microkorg has one Oasys DSP. I know a former Korg Programmer and that's from him.

i find that odd since the triton and karma arent VA's ala the ms2k/microkorg

i pulled this off vintagesynth just now:

OK, I was a bit to short in my description, basically they have DSP chips and use them in different algorhythms, my friend programed them extensively, and said basically that the more polyphony and especially multitimbrality will eat up power and will sound thinner than a synth that isn't. You can get very different synths out of the DSP's, since they are just raw power, but changing the algorhythm will change the available resources and the sound. They got something right with both, but an MS2000 can't get the presence of the micro Korg, even if it is just the gap in time that gave them better ways to program the algo.

I am pretty sure that both the microkorg and the MS2k use one oasys DSP.

Just got home from guitar center, I am officially in love with the micro korg. Weird too, this dude was going offon a triton right next to me, and the vocoder was picking up the vibes and the sh*t was matched up on beat, it sounded like his beat, but was in a synth.

One of the keys would get stuck, i guess from all the use. I even had homeboy do a credit check to se eif i could get the payment deal, but I was declined, thats the only store i get declined at..weird.

Anyway, I want to look around, see if i can get one for under 400, maybe 300 flat. I want this thing f*ckin bad. Oh man, its so dope!!!!!

check ebay or your local recycler, you never know what people sell.

Or price them at online places, they might give a better deal.

Yeah man, only very few new keyboards really impress me, and that's one of few VA's to do so.
