**EDITED**

MIDIchlorian wrote:Dragging a sound to a play pad when creating a keygroup feature was taken out of 1.1.

To create a key group in 1.1 go to add program and create a key group .
Then assign the sound to a layer in program edit.

Try this.....

1. Create a keygroup program

2. Add 8 key groups within that keygroup program

3. Set the note ranges of each key group as follows: C0 - G0, C1 - G1, C2 - G2, C3 - G3, C4 - G4, C5 - G5, C6 - G6, C7 - G7, C8 - G8

4. **Edited** - Assign samples to key group 1 layers in Sample Edit Mode

Results - The sample should be playable from C0 - G0.

I tried it again by going to program edit as you suggested and selecting the sound and that seemed to do the trick. I didn't have to add any new keygroups. But it should work as it did in 1.0 when I could drag the sample straight to the pad and it automatically spread.

Thanks JAH.

I personally don't like the implementation of key groups especially when creating them from the controller. Because of this, I never use it as it is easier to use a VST sampler.

Yes it would be easier to use a vst for key group programs. But from the 4k on up this is a important part of advanced mpcs like the 4k and 5k to a lot users to make the own instruments beyond tuning 16 levels workarounds. With qlink integration key group programs has excellent control over the parameters. This is something that shouldn't be taken lightly. A definite fix if ever!

Dragging a sound to a play pad when creating a keygroup feature was taken out of 1.1.

To create a key group in 1.1 go to add program and create a key group .
Then assign the sound to a layer in program edit.

The create a key group then drag a sound to a pad feature was taken out of 1.1.

To create a key group in 1.1 go to add program and create a key group .
Then assign the sound to a layer in program edit.

Thanks for clearing that up!

Really there is much to improve at this section..

Please read above comments.

OK. But it seems like it's not suppose to be that way..
Also i prefer VST sampler if making polyphonic sounds..
At this time AKAI:s software uses too much cpu when adding
multiple sounds and using lfo tweaks and filters to manipulate sounds..
I hope that 1.4 brings more power to poly..

I know i should get a updated computer. Got only dual processor amd with
2GB of ram and still using IDE cables on my hard drives..

Maybe after summer i can upgrade to Intel i7 cpu with minimun of 8GB ram and 128GT ssd..
USB3 is also one must be feature..

But that is the way its designed. How do you believe it should work?

Visit Akai's website to see the minimum and/or recommended PC/Mac specs for the Ren.
