technics rebuild tutorial

Do you guys that have done the ground wire mod find it makes any improvement to audio signal? Obviously it makes things more convenient. I'm in a position now where I have my tone arm outside of my Tt so it's prime time for modd'n.

I Also came across a mod where someone had put a few O-rings (unevenly spaced) along the length of the tone arm to reduce vibrations. Nice poor mans mod that apparently makes a bit of improvement as it dampens vibrations. Some use heat shrink tube for this as well - but that's too permanent for my liking.

For the past 6 years, I've had no issues with repositioning the ground wire on my 12's. no hum no nothing. it's one less wire you got to fk with.

I've never heard of that. where did you see this done at?


And yeah... where the hell is sonseelye??? He's the one that gave me the idea of modding my 12's with new LEDs.

on another forum that i cant seem to find the exact one.. but the link below gets the drift. apparently theres a whole bunch of very cheap mods you can do to the technics arm that greatly improve it. the shrink wrap seems to get very positive reviews as well as stuffing it with cotton.

but one that popps up a lot is rewiring it with Cardas... whatever that is.

To lessen the resonation of the tone arm, why not use the heavy ass rubber mat that came with the TT? I use my rubber mat mainly when recording records to FLAC for clarity.
There are other turntable mats for vibration absorbtion...

For sure. I'm only gonna stick to the cheap mods, focus on the cartridge, and when there's recording to be done use the rubber mat and headphones.

My Tt actually came with a rb300 but I'm sellin that cos I can see it leading to an expensive rabbit hole.
