this is a pre-feature request - just thinkin out loud for now

would the architecture of JJOS / MPC allow for samples that are in ram to be accessed via USB load.

the purpose being, say youve trimmed a loop and got a bunch of samples in RAM and you want to edit them in soundforge.

instead of having to save to HD / Memory card > load USB>edit> load and replace sample, you could go to load menu and choose RAM in the USB options, and then you could open them up in your sound editor software, save and close, and exit load menu. - would cut out a few steps. although it would probably create havoc with the NDC setups.

im doubting it would be possible to implement otherwise it would have been done already. but it would be cool. (that post about inverting phase got me thinking about it.)

Hardware usb is only connected to cf drive.
That's all you get. It's just a big card reader.

Ah ok. Makes sense.

What about a new addition to the 'load' mode. That when accessed takes a dump  of the samples in ram into a designated area of the cf or hd. So samples can be accessed in mac or pc And then when you exit it, it automatically overwrites those samples back in the ram.

Basically automating a bunch of steps.

"Takes a dump" for some odd ass reason I can't stop laughing at that. I don't know about the new addition in load mode. I don't have jjos, or a 1k or a 2500, usb has always been transfer of samples to/from computer/cf card. I don't know about any ram involvement.

what golfdogz described is one of the bad ass features mpc4000 got when using in parallel with ak.sys

you could just "save entire memory" to HD and then USB into that. seems like pretty much the same thing. every now and then i wish i could bulk effect a bunch of chopped samples.

I actually do just that in my 4k but for some reason I didn't recognize and react to it just now.

my first hash tag, but it rightfully fits

Yeah that's what I'd do now. It does the same thing, that why I thought perhaps a few of the steps in that process could be scripted into a Function of jjos to speed it up a bit. Or it would be cool to be able to put a specific sample into let's call it 'USB transfer folder' straight from 'edit' button in trim window. So if your working on a sample in trim mode..
Edit> USB transfer > puts to a pre assigned folder on cf/hd and enters a version of USB load mode > work on it in software and save > exit and sample overwrites itself and your back in trim window.
