Hey nym ive been Doing this for a minute but usually just track my shit straight to pt. When i got a midi track to import i just double the tempo of the pt session but whats the best way to import a dbl tempo midi track into protools at the real tempo and line it up?

Get a hi-res MPC and the whole 'double-time' technique becomes irrelevant.

Its great/classic tip for sure. But I dont understand how it makes a difference if you are quantizing below 1/32... If you program a beat @ 200bpm you may have double the resolution if the intended track is 100bpm but if you quantize @ 1/8 wouldn't that be exactly the same as making the track at 100bpm @ 1/16? I understand completely that your increasing the resolution of the sequencer but I don't see how that makes a difference if your notes remain tied to the same notes as the original 96ppq provides. 192/96 = 2 so the notes remain perfectly in grid.... Above 1/32 though and your using the higher resolution because it would be like a 100bpm song @ 1/64 quantization.

^ I think a lot of people don't use quantize and to a very trained ear, that extra tick you use may give a better feel/sound to any pattern you tap out.

Yeah for sure I'm on point with that. You don't use quantize or use 1/32 and your getting a lot more places to put notes. I just notice that the first few pages people are saying they use 1/8 and 1/16 Q and that dosnt make a difference.

Doesn't the click become ridiculously difficult to follow at 200bpm? I tried recording at double BPM but getting the right timing was impossible... Regular BPM with no quantising always seems to work better..
