2000xl + fast track pro + ableton 8 video

I was wondering if someone can make a detailed video on the process of tracking out beats into ableton live 8 using the 2000xl and fast track pro...I am having trouble with this and have searched the forums...please help..thanks

What problems are you having?

im just all confused never tracked anything out before not sure if i use 1 midi cable or 2....I used one cable going out of the interface to midi in on the mpc as i was told by someone....and im not seeing a waveform on ableton when i arm the record button and hit play on the mpc

THIS IS WHAT HE TOLD ME:


ok first configure you midi cableto connect the midi out of you interface(computer) to the input of the mpc (midi input 1 or 2 doesn't matter)
next go to live's midi settings by going to: Live Preferences MIDI/Sync tab.once your there you need to click output sync on ( for the midi port your using in this case the fast track right?)
now on the mpc hit shift + midi/sync the settings you want are on the left half in the top corner in:1 (if you plugged the midi cable into midi in 1) and choose "midi time code"
now that your synced you should be able to get the mpc to star the sequence or song when you hip play or record in abelton
next make a blank abelton track for each mpc track you want to record form the mpc on to abelton... so if you want separate kick snare hi hat to manipulate individually in abelton record them seperatly by muting everything else as you record them to their own track in abelton...
it should all line up when you play them together because the mpc is... let me know if i missed the mark with the question...

you dont need anything related to midi to track out.

you plug a cable from your mpc outs to your fast track ins.

audio not midi.
