MPC 3000 vs MPC 60 + s3000xl

^id say get the 1000! Love the 60mki with a 1000 combination. IMO.

Id get a s950 to go with the MPC60, it has all the things the mpc doesnt have, like a low pass for example.
And they'd both be 12 bit so it have that warm old school feel.

Yeah, i like s950 sound but in my country costs as much as 3x s1000 lol.
At first i will cop s1000 and then s3000 if it will be available.

... The S1000 is the creamiest sounding sampler of the ones you list... as you will hear..
It's just a D/A comparison.... same individual sounds/programs loaded into each sampler, triggered/played via midi from an mpc4000.
Audio recorded from each samplers main outs.

Definately s1000 is the creamiest, but the thing i like in s3200 is sound of highs.
Different than anything else.
Once again, first s1000 and than 3000 if available for sure.

If you choose the s1000/s1100, keep in mind the 1100 sounds brighter than the 1000. Dont believe those who say they sound almost the same.

I'm in the market for an MPC 3000 or a 60 myself. I'd much rather get an MPC3000 because it's stereo and for more RAM but i would trade all that for the 60 at any given time for its 12 bit sound. I don't know maybe they DO sound a lot the same like many are saying, even though the 3000 is 16 bit

I was going to say that I never heard a difference on the highend s1000/s1100
.... But I found a spectrum analysis I did on a 20khz-20hz test tone that I put through both....
It showed a slight highend extension on the 1100... I never noticed as my ears are f*cked, they go up to 16khz at best.
I think both sound awesome, a maxed s1000 with scsi option for half the price is not to be sniffed at...
Only thing that I like alot more on the 1100 is the fx board.

I was just reading a link that clint posted a day ago or so.... s1000 has 16 bit converters and s1100 has 20 bit converters... (IE: they are not the same, so they dont sound the same) .... but does this mean you should go with the 1100 over the 1000? NO!!! it means you need both.

indeed! with the 1100 i always felt it sucked some of the low end in kick drums. my personal opinion is it was cutting on the fundamental harmonic in kick drum samples and it always made me feel like turning up the volume so i can hear that low end harmonic

that's my personal opinion. its a great sampler to use though. about the effects, you'll always have fun with the delay. and yes it is 20 bit or 24 bit effect processing don't remember quite right. just too bright for my taste to use for drums

to me the s1000 sounds really good
