Hi I'm new to the forums and have been reading through some of the topics, but none of them are relevant to my problems right now. :(

I just recently bought a used MPC 1000 with JJOS1, The Pad upgrade, and The 128 mb RAM (I don't know if any of the specs matter, just thought I'd state them just in case), and I've been LOVING it, so far. But here's the thing, whenever I go into a mode, for example, "song mode" or "Mixer Mode", and hit the "Main" button to go back in to the main view, My MPC becomes possessed and starts bitching and rebelling like it's a 15 year old girl on her cycle   . The tell tale sign of this "glitch" is when the MPC INSISTS that my pad bank should be "Bank C" and does everything in it's power to KEEP it that way. Also If I hit play, the song will play out just fine but STOPPING the song. That's a whole different story. I might hit stop a good 15 times before it finally stops being stubborn and stops the song....It's like it has a mind of it's own, IT WON'T LISTEN TO ME DAMNIT!!!!

For some odd reason I still love my MPC though, which is why I haven't driven a sledge hammer through it. So I need help you guys. I don't know what to do!!!

I bought it close to 2 weeks ago off eBay. The Seller had a great reputation, and had sold other MPC's in the past. Also, the only flaw that the seller mentioned was that the MPC was missing one of the rubber feet on the bottom. Every thing else, he said, was fully functional. Now I don't know if this was a bold-faced lie, or the truth (I'm more inclined to think the latter, just because of his history on eBay), But either way it's an issue I need help fixing.

check and see if the RAM chip is loose... take it out and put it back in place... it might have gotten loose in shipping. you can access the ram chip without having to open the entire mpc... just unscrew the small panel on the bottom.

if it's not that, it might be a loose connection somewhere inside the machine... you probably need to open it up, check that all cables are connected tight, maybe clean it out with a can of compressed air while you're at it... luckily the mpc1000 is easy to open and there are numerous videos online on how to do so.

also, do you have anything plugged into the MIDI IN when this happens? 'cause if so it may be receiving MIDI signal which makes it get controlled remotely...

I tried all of that. Still no luck. You guys I'm desperate. I couldn't sell this thing off, KNOWING that it's sketchy, and on top of that, I don't want to give it up in the first place. Is there anything else I can do? Anywhere I can send it for a repair/or exorcism? This glitch is driving me insane.

Also check tact switch under the button giving you trouble. Also double check the blue ribbon that is in between the top PCB and pads sensors. You can not pull it out unless it is released by pushing out the collar of the connector, or you will damage it. If it is not seated in properly it will do behaviour like you are getting. Didi it to me, till I put it in properly.
