Let me explain my setup:

I want to record several tracks individually. Here is how I route them:

micron/md/mopho/evolver/mpc ---> mixer ---> audio interface

mpc 1000 is the master and sending midi notes to all the controllers.

The only thing I want ableton live to do is trigger the initial recording so the recording always starts at precisely the same time. I have a UNO midi interface running out of the computer USB to the MPC 1000 Input.

How do I successfully setup Ableton Live to trigger the start of the MPC 1000 sequence?

I have JJOSXL2 3.2.

Basically all I want to do is do a multi-track recording of each individual synth. All of which have been programmed through the MPC. I figured out how to run MPC as master and Live as slave but Live is terrible at keeping time. The timing jumps all around and thus resulting in a experiment gone wrong. This being since the individual tracks don't line up. It seems to work better if I just don't give any midi time signal but just try pressing play at the exact same moment each time I do a new track.

Would anyone else care to share his or her method with us?

Use midi time code as opposed to midi clock. ( needs to be configured both in able ton settings and those of mpc)
You need to set tempo in both but start / stop will trigger at same time and ableton performs solid in that mode. Mpc has to be master and ableton slave

Hi Golfdogz,

Thanks for trying to help me out with syncing ableton live and the mpc. For some reason when I select:

MPC: Out B: time code
MPC: Send MMC: B (the Midi out that goes to my computer's midi in)
Ableton Live Sync In: On
Type: Midi Time code
24 fps
MME

Also, Sync in on the MPC 1000 is set to (Slave)/Mode: OFF Receive MMC: OFF

Ableton Live will not play after hitting play on the MPC. However if I do the same with Midi clock on both MPC and Ableton it works. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

yeah FPS seems to work when set to 25 or ALL..

PM'd you a screen shot of my configuration where it works.. but i think thats all you gotta do, that and make sure external sync is selected in 'options' pulldown

Golfdogz, thanks for taking your time to send me the screenshots. I tried all different fps settings and none seemed to work. Perhaps it's a problem with my version of Live.
